Default Greetings, humans.

I bought the Silent Hunter collection (SHIII, IV, & U-boat missions for IV) in a Steam sale last week, so here I am.

Have played quite a few sub sims. I think the first was Wolf Pack, waaaaay back in the early 1990's, when 256 color graphics was a big deal. I even played 688 Attack sub via modem a few times.

I am just now getting into SHIII. Nearly as soon as I bought SHIII, I learned of & downloaded the GWX 3.0 mod. Still reading the manual for that. It's quite impressive to see a document of that quality accompanying a free, community-produced mod. I have enjoyed other games with strong mod communities (e.g. Freespace 1/2, Oblivion, Thief 2) but never seen anything quite so polished.

Anyway, you'll be seeing me in the SHIII forum mostly, until I start playing SHIV I guess.

Welcome Glad for once to hear someone bought both.

Both sims are good and even better when modded.

Enjoy both.

Hey, I couldn't resist! I got SH III, SH IV, and the SH IV U-boats expansion for under $20. I'm a cheap bastage.

The mods make it an even better deal. They fix problems in the "vanilla" version of the game, and vastly extend replayability.

If not there are always decks that need swabbing.
