Hey mate, have you tried playing with texture's specular map (stored in the alpha mask) for making their surface more metal-like? As far as I can see from your preview, right now they look like they were covered on an heavy coat of dull paint.
Else, what about the classic black/bronze paint scheme? I didn't investigate its historical authenticity, but for sure it is damn smart combination of colors |

Summing up, my suggestions are: making the texture (alpha mask) shinier and adding dark spots/streaks of grease to it Last edited by gap; 03-14-21 at 12:55 PM. |

Why don't I create those textures by myself then? Believe it or not, the reason is that I am happier when I help buddies to create their own mods than when I can write my name on a mod of mine. If you took my comment below for a request, you are off track my friend. Gap off, once and for all |

I agree with Gap and I think he is referring to something similar to this. Files are in dat format and they work in SH5, except there is no underwater view from when you look at torpedo from above the water line. If you want to convert it to SH5 format I can upload files.
Anyway thanks for sharing your work with us. |

Here are the files: https://mega.nz/file/XTwESZqT#I83xG6...09Rl93fgFyZl0g
They are from an old mod called U-BOAT_HAHD for SH3. His author Hans Witteman gave us permission to import his work in SH5. I hope it will inspire you somehow. Cheers. |

Not to go off topic, what is the preferred modding software for color, texturing, etc? I'm competent with GIMP and Blender. Will they handle the file extensions in Silent Hunter?

in v.2 you decided to change the color of G7e back to green
I was trying to find historical data regarding G7e color scheme, but it seems there are 2 options for it: - the same gun metal color with bronze warhead as G7a has, - green paint scheme like already implemented in your v.2... Maybe some experts here on Subsim have any info regarding the historical colors of German G7a and G7e?? |
