Then an example of a night surface attack in 'Otto Kretschmer-style', unprecedented I think:



Then a sample of the wheather transition bug which is in most environment mods. The wheather will suddenly switch around 00:26:



And the version with a correct - smooth wheather transition:



Then a demo with Northern Lights and detection:



What is happening next?

If there is need for these mods: the Moon mod is about to be finished. There is no whish list. This project as-is drained my energy. If people are willing to learn how=to-hard-code-fix I might organize an online workshop.
As how to contine: I will ask some people to 'beta-test' and depending on the results further steps will follow. I have no intention to change Fifi's or OneAlex's mod so some form of working together is the idea.

I want to thank:
- Hsie for his exellent hardcode mod. If you read this: a few of your discoveries in your assembly files I re-used!
- hughesjr for his basic voice attack profile (unreachable on Steam)
- Jerry Mason and crew

Update 6-1-2024: Release candidate 1.18 has arrived
More and more people are downloading the Night Surface attack project. So that is great! The 1.18 update we have is polishing what is already there. So this is what has changed:

SH-5 Water for SH-3 20 Km Atlantic V1000:
Ambient light for cloudy sky at night a now a bit darker
Changed the Lod factor to 15 and patches to 90 in the scene.dat for better performance

SH-5 Moon mod settings (SH-5.cfg) for all mega mods:
Adjusted sh5.cfg for vanilla, Fifi's, OneAlex & LSH 2022 according to this change in ambient lights

Moon mod:
- Northern lights will only be visible when there is no mist (totally clear night). Also the odds to to see them has been increased
- Northern lights are now a bit closer to avoid issues with Hsie's night vision fix
- Settings for Fifi's original environment have been removed after chat with Fubar
- Removed an obsolete sync statement to increase performance with a few FPS

Of course I like to thank Fubar295, Dieselglock & Mister_M again for their help during the testing!

Do not forget to patch your sh3.exe first and then enable the moon mod.

Currently adding all Med files to standalone mod :doh::D:haha:
So next update will not have separated files anymore (except for Med water & colors if desired)
Sailing back and forth into Mediterranean will be possible any date (more populated from La Spezia starting date though - 01/10/1942)

Work almost half done, career tested starting 01/10/42 at La Spezia… loading time=less than 4 mn! :o
Quite incredible :hmmm: the more I add units, the faster it loads! :haha:
(Made many optimizations and corrected some values inconsistencies that could explain faster loadings)
