@ Dowly
Yes it's very satisfying to finally defeat a difficult part after many unsuccesful attempts. Funny expression on your character's avatar! |

Dowly, did you open the gate? Should be some knights on the other side to help you.
No, you can't keep him! Templar my ass, wussy.

May I say that was the most EPIC! battle we have had on the sea in ETW...
lasted almost 2 hours... 3 enemy, 3 of us, each had 6 ships, 3 ships of the line, and 3 smaller ones...

Finishing moves; awesome. I'll save you the gory detail of plunging a sword into an Ogre's head.

Aye, that was cool. But it's the same move with the waraxe aswell, which looks a tad stupid.

A pack of cats?! Haven't run into those yet.
Somehow I don't think I'm going to win this one.

Wow that dragon looks cool.. Aye guys how does that game run? good bad? Whats your take on it.
I'm thinking of getting it but is it really good or just a one time deal game.. is there replay value? Graphics seem fair. What are the strengths and weakness of that game. I'm for RPG games but is that a console hack type game or a true pc game? Thanks WH |

Runs fine on very-high, 4xAA dips the framerate a bit, but it's not a shooter so no real problem there. Not a slideshow either, ~25FPS. (Geforce 8800GTS 512, 4GB DDR2, 2.8GHz C2Q)
Imho, it's got some replay value; just play a different race and class. Race has a bit of impact on dialogue, and playing different classes is always interesting. There are different "prologues" for each race, so at least the first bit has 3 versions (maybe 6 if it varies with class as well). (only played 1 character yet, so I don't know how much effect race/class has on the overall experience) Graphics are good, solid. Screenshots don't do it justice, really. JPG messes up the colors. Compared to the console versions, this one is clearly superior. For example, console doesn't get the top-down tactical cam, and there are complaints of graphics quality on the 360 and lowish FPS on PS3. I imagine it's the same as far as content goes, not that that is a negative, mind you. Bioware has always produced for PC, and I wouldn't say this game suffered from also being released for consoles... not the PC version, anyway. As for strenghts and weakenesses, I can't be objective; I just love it. It's a classic Bioware RPG, if that tells you anything. If I have to say what I like, it's the humour, good voice-acting and great characters, plenty to explore, plenty of distractions (random encounters, side-quests, random chit-chat between party members), many choices to make, good dialogue, plenty to loot... and finishing moves in combat. Oh, and there's the thing about a ton of lore; they made a world, not just a collection of cooky-cutter environments to run around in and kill stuff to get another gold coin. There really is more stuff to read about as I collect codices than interrests me. I don't have that much interest in learning about the religion of that world, but it's all there.

Very good I like alot of lore too. Makes the game more indepth. Cool Thanks. How are the bugs? Not too bad no ctd, glitches odd events? Are they're tolerable or non existent?
Do you need henchmen or can you be solo too? |

Had my first CTD after almost 58 hours, second followed soon after, none since then (over 85 hours now). I suspect it had something to do with the game running in the background for a few hours while I was doing other stuff, but that doesn't account for the second crash soon after. Alternatively, it might have had something to do with the game updating the online profile in the background.
Whatever the cause, imho it's not even worth mentioning. 5 minutes of trouble for over 80 hours of gameplay; not many games are released in such a state these days. Though Dowly reported constant CTDs, possibly caused by multi-core CPU: Quote:
Haven't noticed any issues apart from that, but that doesn't mean they aren't there, of course. Still, I'm confident that any issues that are present are minor, and definetly not game-breaking. There's a thread going on this game, might find it interesting. *oh, party is a must. At least for me as a rogue; they don't do to well solo. But I think it's best to keep a party with you anyway. (a lot of the random events while travelling are ambushes)
