EDIT: I was just thinking, wouldn't it just be as simple as making the type II engines a little longer and so on?

I'm pretty sure Tomi will re-use and/or adjust things as fits the job.
Completeing the Type II pretty much set him up with a bunch of
re-usable parts.

I think the job is in the best hands at this point.

Yes the type II is still the torpedo room expanded.
