Default COLD WATERS - SOUND EFFECTS & RED OCTOBER FILM

Hello,

I just wanted to ask if anyone could or is planning on bring the Hunt for Red October sound effects for the Sonar/torpedo. It could be one for your active sonar and the sonar of the active torpedo zeroing on it's target. I scoured the internet to find a .wav file or any type of audio file from the film. I only found the sound file from where they gave the CPT "one ping only". Nothing on the torpedo. I thought about recording it myself but I'm not sure I'm skilled enough to make it able to be looped. Thank you in advance!

I doubt the active torpedo ping sound is looped in CW. I'd wager it's a single sound that gets called as often as the torpedo pings.

The problem with drawing sounds from a movie (beyond copyright issues) is that you'll catch all the background ambience, voices and music along with it. The sample you intend to extract must be as isolated as possible in order not to be jarring when taken out of context and put elsewhere.

If someone could make a hotkey that turns your active sonar on for one second and then off again while playing "Give me a ping Vashily, one ping only pleash." I will be happy.

You can! Just "shift A" and "shift A" again. That is essentially what he did in the movie yes?

If they do not loop the torpedo ping that should be easy to do right? I could probably do that. Any ideas for the running torpedo sound? I doubt I'll be able to produce the sounds the way the movie did....

"Torpedo sound

The torpedo sound was a combination of ..
speedboat coming and going
a Ferrai
animal screeches and growls
bubbles
a motor scooter
a screeching screen-door spring
sound of water rushing through a garden hose into a pool.

This sound was processed and used to as an explosive element for the initial compressed-air release, where it's launched from the shaft."

I've been scrolling trough this movie. Here is what I found so far. Later I will try catching some samples.

00:09:50 Bio and Sub sounds
00:10:19 ticks for screen text
00:10:24 Whale
01.06 00 Aircraft overhead
01.06 21 Sonar pulses
01:08:16 Torpedo clear ping
01:32:00 Underwater engine sounds (brown noise?)
01:43:00 Crazy Ivan
01:38:24 One ping only
01:40:13 One ping only

What sample length would be acceptable (copyright)

That's awesome! Question, does the copyright really matter to the joe blow modder? I'd understand if Killerfish Games tried to put it into the game that they sell but this is just for fans.

As long as you don't make money from them it's ok to use for modding.

I isolated a few of the pings yesterday for the torpedo sonar. I think it sounds ok. Any ideas on how to get the torpedo propulsion sound?

That high pitch sound?

As far as I remember that sound was not isolated (clean) in this movie. Perhaps it can be made by other means?
