Default Mac

Anybody have one? I'm considering getting a MacBook for our next laptop, probably the 13 inch Macbook Pro. Any thoughts?

I personally have an overriding hatred of all things Apple, particularly after those Mac vs PC adverts came out.

IMHO they are way over priced and don't carry the quality everyone thinks they do, and they only get away with it due to brand power and heavy advertising.

I should have mentioned that one (very big) reason I'm considering a Mac is to develop for iPhone/iPod touch. And of course the only place you can do that is...

I know that they are a luxury brand, but I honestly believe the software and hardware IS built better from what I've seen and heard. Being recommended by a few friends of mine who are software developers really helped as well.

This notebook won't be used at all for gaming, BTW.

Do not join that religion! Apple is a cult if you didn't know. A thousand and one things could be wrong with a Mac but the fanbois will still say - 'well, it is a mac'.... And that is all that matters.

They are almost as bad as atheists in anything other than their POV.

I don't know about joining the cult...But I pretty much have to get one to do any development work on Mac OS/iPhone OS. Which seems like a really good thing to have on my resume these days.

But I have to say, the "Bring down the monopolist M$ pigs by buying a $2000 Mac!" crowd makes me laugh.

The highest paying jobs in systems are to be found in Unix. A Mac is a first step I guess.
