Trying to start the game...HELP
Greeting all.
I just purchased T vs. T (boxed game) and it seems to have installed correctly. Everything goes smooth till I get to the point that the game should start(after the little tank tread finishes). Then a little box pops up saying "TvT.exe has stopped working" and thats as far as it goes. I've tried uninstall and reinstall a few times but it always ends the same. I've searched this forum for a few days before I asked but most posts are about BSOD or in game crashes. The factory game disc looked kind of water discolored(for lack of a better description) out of the sealed box. That kinda worries me now that I find that the company is defunct. Do you guys have any words of wisdom on my situation? I'm running a genuine windows 7 64 bit OS intel core 2 duo E6550 @2.33GHz. 2GB ram G-skill nvidia 260 GT |

Game Crashing
Other possibilities, do you have DirectX9c installed?
Some people have reported that their sound card caused crashes. What system do you have(specs)? Finally have you tried re-installing the game in case your install was corrupted? |

Missing dll files
Dreadnot I checked other posts about your problem and I found one which dealt with your sepcific problem. As I thought it's got to do with a missiong dll file.
You are missing the MSVCP71.dll which you can download from that link below. But check my first answer to you to see if3 you have the other 3 dll files2 the 2 70 and another 71. http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-f ... ml?msvcr71 Once you have it put it into your C:/Windows > System not the the System 32 Then the game should start normaqlly. My own install of the game already has those files incorportated but some older versions did not have it and that's why they have to be inserted manually. TRry and let ne know. Cheers |

I was able to download the linked file and unzipped it to the windows system file.
Where do I look for the other 4 dll files to see if I have them? I did not see them in the windows sytem 32 folder where there are tons of other dll files. I found the TvT game folder and there are other folders in there. Which one of those should they be in? |

Drednot , they should all be in your game folder the main one not in any sub folder. That´s where mine are.
Did you try starting the game after installing the one you downloaded? I got mine form the defunct panzersim.com website 2 years ago.Have you tried googling them to see where they are available?I think on files4share or filefront or websites like that should be able to find them.Read the old pòsts on TvsT in the subsim forum you may find the info you need. That´s how I found that thing about the missing dll file. Good luck! Don´t look in C: windows system 32 it´s c: windows system only. |

Ok I just found the msvcp71.dll
Does that need to go into the game folder? And does the msvcr71.dll that you linked to need to go in the game folder, too, or just in the system folder? Again, Many Thanks! |

Ok Dred I checked my own game folder and windows here´s what I have:
1)in windows systems goes the file you downloaded . 2) in Windows 32 that´s where the other 3 go: msvcp 70, msvcr 70 and 71. Once you have them that should do the trick |

So I should move the two 70.dlls from the game folder and along with the mscvp71.dll that I found to the windows system 32 folder and leave the msvcr71.dll in the plain windows system folder.
is this correct? |

is this after you start a mission so try out to start the game in windowed mode - maybe this helps, until a final solution is found
and ... i found this in another thread: quote [Application has failed to start because d3dx9_30.dll was not found That error is caused by MicroSoft and there DirectX development ideals of DirectX9. Reinstall DirectX from MicroSoft's website or find the individual file on their download site.] |

Well, after swapping dll files around, I finally got it to start a mission.
Actually figured out how to start engine, then rev, then release brake, then shift into first, second, third, etc. Actually knocked out some AT guns and T34s Got killed a few times and then when restarting a mission, got the veiws started jumping and eventually crashed to the desktop. At least I'm getting somewhere. The action is kickass when its working Thanks for the help so far Frinik |
