Less hassle with a Sprinter than running a tractor/trailer for several reasons: 1. Cost to operate is much lower (Fuel/tires/tolls/new truck payment, etc) 2. Can park just about anywhere(not regulated to truck stops) 3. Not regulated in run/drive time hours 4. Easier to handle/negotiate roads and such These are the reasons my drivers up there in age switch to a smaller vehicle. They have semi-retirement on the brain.

Some of us ol' truckers have 'quasi-retirement' on our semi-brain ... and avoid semi's altogether! Still did 240 miles yesterday in my 'patrol' Corolla! Billed .25 cents per mile + time! I'll collect the balance shortly against the federal .56 cents per mile allowance: About 30K miles driven in 2015- nice deduction considering I get taxed on my Social Security ...occasionally the jackal gets to bite the IRS hyena

My singles/teams in Sprinters do very well with me. Your eldest can look here when ready or help in making a decision with who to contract on: http://landstar.com/ We are all agents or contracted on. No forced dispatch. Other companies will run you to death for beans.

I do not miss over the road trucking at all. My trucking these days is a Ford 650 rollback tow truck. We move more freight and equipment that cars these days. LOL Good spending money for my 66 GTO.

I'm surprised as not all speedometers are made alike. My daily driver reads 1 mile slower than actual speed.

Our local Sheriffs get paid $65,000 a year and I have never seen them give a speeding ticket, but boy those highway patrol boys do. They hide, they operate in pairs, they stopped me for not having a seat belt on at a stop sign when she (that's right I said a she) went by me. So I put it on to go past her as she was now stopped on the side of a curve. She turns on the red and blue lights even though I had it on by now and pulls me over. I complained and she said well I saw you at the stop sign and you didn't have it on then.

Yes sir. As I get older this whole "career" deal kind of loses it sparkle. Retire becomes golden. Of course we need that career to save so we can retire. Crappy system.

I'm not complaining, as long as I actually get to retire someday
