Latest form the Magic Railroad.

Things not going so good, ran into a big problem with this.
It's a double crossover and a key part of the lay out and it broke.
Had to replace it and what a pain. The new one was shorter and did not fit! I have to order everything on line and it almost took two months to get all the new stuff, lots o' money also.

I changed switch machines to these.

Had to cut the bench work to get them in.

Finally got it in and it worked.

They don't make a 22" curved bridge so I made my own.

Got the center section done and all the crossings of the walkways

Some of the bridges I had to make, they all need some dressing up but they do the job so far.

Picked up some new rolling stock as well, thanks to E Bay

I was very surprised to see that this ran on all the layout.
It's a cheapie but a good test, the loco is an EMD E-8 with a F-7 B unit.
They are a bit messed up and not DCC so I will replace it soon with a Southern Pacific Daylight set. Just ordered the locomotives today, I'll pick up new passenger cars as I find them. It's all setting on a display track I added.

Been busy and spent a ton of money but I'm getting there.

Magic

Magic, that's looking great. A lot of work, a lot of space. Keep sharing. I can't wait to see how it comes out.

Way back when I was a young gaffer, my Dad and I had a HO scale setup on two sheets of 1/2" plywood in the basement. Hurricane Hazel destroyed it for us when the basement flooded.
4' of water in the basement has a tendency to do that.
We never got back into it.
I still love trains and prefer long distance train travel over any other mode of transportation.

Magic that is, well, magic! Very nice indeed, great work on the bridge and glad to hear you got the crossover working right, switches can be a sod at times, even on the real thing!

Not to get too personal, but how much $$ have you put into this thus far. not so much counting time, just materials. Just interested.

This thread brings back my childhood, I was 11 with a G.I Joe train set with soldiers, and bridges, and missile trains, tanks, all that fun stuff.

I had battles going on, as the train dropped off reinforcements. Epic battles, you had to have been there!

I read through this and felt like a kid for a minute. Ear to ear grin.
