Default Motherships

Hi to all and cheers! I can't wait for this mod, I follow it since 2017 an i hope that is going on. There are plans for "mothership" subs that port Kaitens?

keltos and I had been attempting to get it to where that was possible, and it might well be, but thus far, our attempts at using the commando small boat as a "skeleton" has not worked. keltos did make an I-1 Jyunsen1 Type that carried "dummy" kaiten or Ko Hyoteki on-deck, but no launching. We also have not attempted any further updates in over a year, but it is still on the hard drive, waiting for a break from FotRSU to be able to do a one boat demo for it, which would of course, involve the I-15 Type Jyunsen B-1 boats, but without an airplane catapult... keep your fingers crossed.

MUYED...

Were any one to, that would be promoting... piracy. Which, My dear chum... is frowned upon.

Just so's you know...

Am sure that you could find this available fairly cheap, either on Steam, Ubisoft... or even Amazon or Ebay.. in a disk format, if not a instant download over the net... providing you have a decent enough internet provider, that is.

Best to you & smooth sailing.

M. M.

Was thinking about this mod so decided to check in. Hope it is still under development

I would be willing to do some campaign work, scripting traffic. Anything else I can do to assist.

I'm reading about the IJN Submarine Force in WWII. They were so disorganized and mismanaged it's laughable. Hope your mod will be more successful than they were.

This currently is set-up to emulate that confusion... The player will generally be 'penalized' for all sorts of stuff. I wouldn't insinuate the submariners were disorganized, but the upper ranks most certainly were, and incompetent in their use of the force - thankfully. If you take those few weeks of success they had around Guadalcanal, or in the Indian Ocean, and have a procedural limit on shooting range for the torpedoes, and they could have created havoc on the Seas. But they were not allowed to fight, and when they were, they were sent against warships in congested areas with heavy ASW (not too dis-similarly from the US effort at the beginning of the war). Add to that the fact that the US had cracked the comm codes, and knew almost to the yard where each of the IJN subs were from basically 1943 onwards, and you can see why the IJN sub picket lines were "rolled-up" almost every time. When they weren't, the US went around them... Throw in some Mk27 mines, the IJN late war tactics, and it was a recipe for disaster. The links below are not meant as "shopping" links, but only as examples:

The Japanese Submarine Force and World War II
I have that one (link is now throwing an error... ??) and when the Japanese surrendered, their submarines were in deplorable condition, lacking even rudimentary necessities, such as functioning toilets. The machines stunk to high-heaven. Lack of material and maintenance... "Here fellows, here's the latest technology of the Empire. Now go an do your duty for the Emperor"...

Another of interest to me, and on my "Christmas Wish List" is
Sunk: The Story of the Japanese Submarine Fleet, 1941-1945

War is always a waste of humanity, but the Japanese submarine force losses were staggering.

Amazon.com

https://www.amazon.com/Silent-Hunter...s%2C220&sr=8-1

If you live in the USA, then you can download it. If not I bet you could use a VPN to still get it.

You get it from the UBISOFT store real cheap now.

I'm reading the first one. To bad the US wasn't able to keep 1 or 2 of the more advanced subs like I-400, as museum pieces.

There is some history behind that also, alluded to in some of the books you can find on the subject. The elephant in the room was the Soviet Union and the agreements made prior to the war's end to "share and share alike" all technology and assets attained upon war's end. The US gleaned what they could from the subs, and then used them for target practice so that they could claim "oh, we forgot about that, and sank it already - sorry - we have pictures... ??". Of course, the Soviets didn't share much of what they found either...
