Support Officer's Experience

And yet another ''beginner'' question ...

While promoting my crew some medals I came to realize that there is a experience bar in my sailors stats window. One of my officer is now 324/300.

Does it mean he is ready for some ''upgrade'' ?

Or simply it means he is now ''experienced'' .. does it affect is stats (resilience, endurance, etc) ?

I'm clearly missing something here, and the game manual gives no hints about this topic. Help !!

That means he is ready for a rank promotion unless he is already at the top rank for his grade and yes, it improves endurance, etc.

The window at the top of the screen with their current rank; use that.

hmmm...

With SH3 Commander maybe... but I am still on genuine SH3. Window at the top of screen is my sub (side view) with my crew in quarters.

I click on promotions, bunch of sailors get a blue outline (ready for promotion, based on their xp).

Promotion grey box is empty, with a ''0'' beside it. It says : ''must complete a patrol'' when I click on it.

This is my 9th patrol... not getting it !!

Ah. The message about a patrol usually applies to the crew member you've chosen for a promotion, medal, etc.

They can't get anything if it says they've done 0 patrols in their info. section.

I see.. taking me out of the fog a inch at a time, John. Thx ! But they are my original crew, so they all have 9 patrols behind their ties (listed in their personal info section).

On the same topic, I just took notice that some of my officers have ''personal renown'' may I say (bottom right corner of their info section).

It is definitely a separate ''thing'', since they both have 400 points and my available renown is only 239 points after some upgrades on the sub. Yet, they are still at 400 points each after the purchases ...

Any idea what this is about ?!

Strange that the promotion item isn't working then. Can you post a screenshot ?
Pay no attention to the renown section of their info. As far as I know it serves no function.
Only thing that needs attention is the endurance bar graph and depending on the fatigue model you use even that won't matter after a few patrols, much fewer than nine even.

Another note regarding promotion; their experience level must be high enough. Info. in the lower left hand bar of their info. screen.
You'll see two numbers separated by a forward slash. The left hand number must be greater than the right hand to get a promotion.
Though with nine patrols that shouldn't be a problem for at least some of them.

Finally, got a promotion on 10th and again on 11 th patrol. Both were very successful on number of ships/tonnages sunk. 10 targets on the first patrol (including 4 with the deck gun) and 9 on the second.
Based on this, I suppose promotions are earned depending on your success on patrols, since they are my best patrol results so far...

You are correct; patrol results play a big part in it. Sorry for my not thinking of that earlier.

Right. I like helping as much as I can, but it's even better if a person learns about things too vs. having someone else do it all for them.
