Default Migration ?

Recently had a drive fail. Only the boot sector faild and the data is still intact and readable.

Is there any 'easy' way to move an installed program from the flakey drive to the new one? Copy/paste wont work because of the registry keys etc.

Some kind of clone tool (extremely helpfull, I know). Was thinking about doing something similar, but in the end just reïnstalled clean. Too much hassle with the clone stuff for me.

Probably will need to rebuild the boot sector, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

Maybe these are helpfull:

Norton Ghost and Acronis True Image came up a lot when I was searching for a solution myself. Both are payware, but a free trial might do the trick.

Well the boot sector on the afflicted drive is shot but the data is intact. It is now one of three drives. At least I have my saved games.

I have most every thing back, most frustrating thing was the motherboard and its drivers or specifically xp's drivers. There is so many misleading links on the topic it is a chore to find what you need.

But ... meh .... its all on the mend now. Most of the games I have been playing recently have been via Steam. That helps alot.

I havent tried SH5 yet... cant wait to see what thatll take.
