Harbor patrol wish to remind you that all harbors have a 5-knot speed limit, and for the safety of your boat and any workers who may be nearby you should never exceed one knot when near any dock.
We will be watching you.

Methinks you should speak to the kommandant of my escort, who IIRC does a good 8-10 knots while getting me safely out of the harbor. OTOH maybe they're afraid I'll run right over them if they go any slower. I did have that tendency early on to barrel right by them at flank speed. |

I've been known to tear out of Lorient at around 17knots. It makes the ride more interesting

LOL
Next time try getting out of your harbour at flank speed going through minefields with blindfolded crew members on deck. THAT would be interesting.

Most definitely...I have the crew attach a handled rope to the stern and I enjoy a spot of water skiing

with all my constant course adjustments just to keep the boat on track, it could become quite a wild ride

@ FK : Now I'd like to see that scene drawn by Torplexed, haha.
@ Jim : Convoy detected, North of Londonderry. First ship sunk. Another one damaged. Third torpedo impact, large merchant hit. So... There we go ! The real fight is going to take place now. 4 escorts only. Currently at 87 meters, 23 meters under keel. Later in the night, a group of 5 destroyers joins the hunt. There's no way out of this trap, guys. Erm... Do you really need to know that I've not been able to escape them ? You evil person.

Thanks mates
@ Myxale : Oh yes... I knew I wouldn't be able to escape them, when a group of 4 ships with depth charges racks start pinging you, you inevitably start to worry, LOL. Once these destroyers got to be joined by a killer group I took extreme care to avoid their attacks/depth charges, and only got the flak damaged. It all started someday at the end of 1942 around 21:00/9:00PM... There was so much explosions around my boat that I really wanted to check how many ships were dropping their load on me. I waited until the sun came up, and when I saw via free cam that 9 destroyers and corvette were there... I did not surface and surrender. I just hit alt+F4. I've been depth charged for the whole night, and MAN, this night was LONG, haha.
