  • Air attacks in grin AN, I was returning home, typical good weather for the Allie planes it was early 1945 as a rule I slug it out on the surface if I am going down I try to take as many enemy planes with me.

Photo taken by the captain of the U-27, Ernst Steen. U-27 attacked the convoy later that night. The convoy reached Liverpool two days later, with three ships missing.

Photo taken by KptnLtn Adolf Bummer II aboard the U-27. The boat was a type VII/B boat sailing from Kiel at the beginning of the war. The photo is believed to be from her first combat patrol. Sailor on the foreground is Rudolf Timm, the man behind him is yet to be identified.
