Ontos, officially the Rifle, Multiple 106 mm, Self-propelled, M50, is an American light armored tracked anti-tank vehicle developed in the 1950s.

It mounted six 106 mm manually loaded M40 recoilless rifles as its main armament, which could be fired in rapid succession against single targets to increase the probability of a kill. I was sure it had to be guns with those lands and grooves visbile in the fore ends. Seems this M 50 was used with some effect.

I sometimes wonder why some successful ideas that have proven their effectiveness, are given up. I would imagine this thing would prove valuable nowadays also for Ukraine.
