You can already do that but the jyunsen B mod uses the german missions which is different from what should ijn mission be like

Yes, thanks. I am aware of that, to make more clearly, meant the full work of what all who are working on with the Climb Mt. Niitaka IJN mod add in for SH4,
Keltos01. Sorry for any confusion there, chap.

Know that you posted on another different forum, concerning the mods you worked on & have released thus far, (which as I understand it will be seen of being incorp'ed into Climb Mt. Niitaka mod) a comment you made as follows:

''I appreciate it ! There aren't that many people outthere who want to play the other side..
I'd like to get the Sen Toku working though... Then the KRS mine laying sub, but that's still some time in the future.. I'd like to play too now and then !'' (post # 3 on that separate post of your mod v3.9)

I enjoy history, from both sides of the whole... rather than taking a narrow view of it. I've played SH both as a Kaleun & a U.S. skipper of subs, and have thoroughly enjoyed doing so. Now, am looking forward to expanding that to (hopefully as soon as Climb Mt. Niitaka mod is finialized, that is... as well, as can be, that is knowing that invariably some bugs/kinks will have to be squashed/fixed & that that process does take time...) to be able to captain a japanese sub during the war, as well.

A tip of the hat, once again to modders, who work to improve, fix & make better the sub sim we all have come to love & sometimes hate as well... when we goof up & lose a sub.

Know that from Me, your grunt work in doing so, is greatly appreciated.

Mad Mardigan, signing off...

SHO IJN add on for SH4... ???

Just wondering... is this still being worked on, as I haven't seen anything more chatter about it.

Really hope so, since initially learning about it, was excited about the prospect of being able to roam about as a IJN sub skipper...

Any info about it, would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

Yes, every once in a while I'll get the hammer out and throw it against the wall... lol - But seriously, what we'll try to do sometime in the next several months is get a JyunsenB beta out. The main thing about a Japanese career is that it is ~so~ very different from the German, and especially the American careers. Plus there are all sorts of work-arounds to try to implement yet, just to give you a semblence of what they did. Quite a few "effects" we would like to have do not look to be possible, be we'll get by with something...

Cool... cool... was just wondering, as I mentioned, hadn't seen anything & it had Me wondering, is all.

I know that there is work ongoing with FotRSU & know that those that are working on that, also have other irons in the fire, as it were.

As for the U.S. side of it all, from what I have found (and correct Me, if I'm wrong, is FotRS & ultimately FotRSU, are based off the bones of TMO...and as with Dark Waters, looks awesome...

Am seriously considering adding to the SH4 library, of 'We dive at Dawn', as from what I've gleaned of it is, this is the ability to skipper the Brit's line up of subs... am investigating it further, before I ''pull the trigger'' on this though.

Yeah, I know with the Kriegmarine enhancement of SH4 (done by Fifi, off based of Operation Monsun, took the best of that & enhanced it and it looks grand. This I love, as it is, to Me, any way... a more upgraded SH3 on steroids... Only thing lacking, is the bases being like they are in LSH3, what with the swinging dock doors & the bases looking as they do in SH3. That aside, as I said... is Marrrvelooouuusssss... simply marvelous.

I still dink about on My SH3, modded out with LSH3 + some other mods that I've found through a lot of trial & error to flesh it out more, an still is like My 1st love.

I do know that Urmel, is supposed to be soon sometime, releasing an updated version of LSH3 tentatively titled ''LSH3-2020''... I could be wrong, but considering it is 2020, an all.. figure that should be the add on tag for it.
I do admit, that is pure guess work on My part.

Thanks for the update on IJN mega for SH4, propbeanie... I do appreciate it.

Of all projects, this is the one I truly can't wait for. Japanese had such a unique and under utilized fleet. Finding historic targets in the game such as Yorktown, Saratoga, Indianpolis etc could be interesting. The intense ASW challenges, especially later in the water. With the AI torpedoes mod, enemy submarines can be a constant worry.

Sounds interesting,, IJN did have a Strangle hold on the Aussies,, with subs,, I'm tinkering on the US destroyers and DEs ,,getting depth charges to work on playables is beyond me ,, one idea was to put a couple of cuties on for ASW duty but we have no IJN Subs to fight in current layout.

Yes, as above... when time permits (which it has been rather stingy lately) some work is performed on it. The "focus" of a "beta" version has been reduced to a JyunsenB from just prior to the start of hostilities, to the Fall of 1943, but it will still be a while yet. Too much to do in FotRSU still...

Look forward to it. Missions to operate off the Hawaii and US west coast at opening of hostilities I take it?

Oh yes... A player is sent out from Yokosuka or the Marshalls prior to the outbreak of hostilities, and they then are "liined-up" to intercept any vessels that attempt to get out of the harbor. After a few days of that, some boats went to the west coast and tried to sink some merchant shipping, which most felt was an insult to their bushido spirit, or they shelled shore installations, and then headed for the Marshalls or other locations. The IJN never did figure-out how to utilize their submarines, thankfully, and it wasn't even 1943 yet, and they are ferrying supplies and re-inforcements with submarines. Between the Aleutians and the Solomons, and later New Guinea and other bypassed elements of the IJA, the sub force was stretched. In between those assignments, they would be on picket duty, of which one of their lines off the Marianas (I believe it was), was "rolled-up" in a matter of a couple of days, with only 2 or 3 boats surviving. Most of that was due to strict adherence to radio silence, and the strict adherence to their orders. It is definitely difficult, though not impossible to configure the game to this mentality, but for a potential IJN skipper to score high, ~and~ survive the war, that will be most difficult...

What a terrible but interesting scenario if the Japanese had used their subs properly after pearl harbor, with their subs and fleetboats running all over pacific, a lot of sub v sub action likely, plus us trying to protect convoys in the Atlantic and Pacific, esp in those early years, I am not positive we could have handled it.

I look forward to the mod. I am curious if we have any subsimmers form japan would be willing to record relevant commands in japanese, for immersion.

keltos01 had a contact, but I cannot remember his name off the top of my head... I'll have to dig through the mountain of notes I have for the mod. I have also found reference to specific orders the Japanese military (IJN) received. I happened upon a book at a local Goodwill store, where someone had donated "The Pacific War" by John Costello. Most of the book is written prior to the release of most of the top-secret information we have available today, but some was released as he was writing, and he includes the additional information in his Appendix. So the subs enroute to station prior to the beginning of hostilities will have the orders "broadcast" to them. Of course, absolute radio silence and "cloak of invisibility" must be maintained at all times... It would really be nice if the game allowed for "penalties" and messages generated for the same... ah well. We do have ways to work around some aspects of the "tonnage war" aspects of the stock game...

But yes, imagine the impact of the IJN having their submarines preying upon un-escorted two and three ship convoys (the US standard in the Pacific early war) in the Pacific and Indian Oceans... The economics of scale still say the US would have prevailed, but the cost of victory and the lengthening of the war boggles the mind... and what about the Russians, post-August, 1945??? What if Patton wouldn't have died in a vehicle "accident"??? It would make a great "what-if" movie, eh?... lol
