Just got home from an amazing night out. Our drummer has been telling us for several weeks that the band he played with for years was going to be in town for one night. He insisted that we all come, and that we bring our guitars.

We showed up. The house band played a set, then announced the travelling show. They played for awhile. Then they had us come up and do three songs. The rest of the night involved the house band backing up several players and singers. Everybody had a great time, and it was quite an experience.

Afterward the members of the house band, who were quite good by the way, all said they were coming to hear us next Friday night when we play our own show. The leader of the travelling band, who our drummer used to play for, came to us afterwards and asked if we had a business card. We did, and he took several. He then asked for a copy of our CD. It seems he hosts a late-night radio show three times a week, and wants to play some of our stuff. He also is closely associated with a booking agency, and wants them to come hear us as well.

Something good might actually come from this.

Oh, and afterwards I also got to talk to several top-notch musicians, who also thought our band was great.

Now it's approaching 0400 hours and I can't sleep.

BBMF Hurricane & three Spitfires roared over the house this afternoon: headed for a flypast over Woodhall Spa (where they're having their annual 1940s weekend).

I wish my 'sod was idle'; but have a crabgrass and Bermuda affliction that reeks havoc with the front yard which I had sodded ten years ago or so...thinking of switching to a low-maintenance rock, wood chip, and low water succulents. Everyone else's lawn on the street is iffy as well(cat toilet issues) and technically we're still in a drought; No one else on my street puts any great effort toward golfcourse standard either! With the temps hittin' 95-100 all week, they'll be calling for water conservation before the summer's over I expect. <Kinda what I've got in mind with this for the already existing rock trim aprons at the front street and neighbor boarder. >
