You only need one gear to turn around.

Yeah, but just a normal U-Turn....no.

Hollywood apparently doesn't realize how transmissions work.
  1. Slam on the gas and let off the clutch as hard as you possibly can at the exact same moment
  2. Rev up the engine until it's really loud
  3. Shift dramatically 10 times
  4. GO FAST

Just come from watching X-Men: Days of a Future Past! Very good movie, possibly one of best one of the franchise.

It is pretty bad when a movie franchise takes the same story and uses it over and over and over again.

Of course the "Fast and Furious" franchise is not the first to do that and it surely pleases its target audience(13-22 year old males) so I recon when you look at it that way it is a highly successful franchise.

Not every film has to have a deep meaning.

Best racing film(really a documentary) hands down The Speed Merchants.

Honestly, F&F is really just one long continuous story. It's not the same movie over and over again. It all builds up to this next movie when they merge the rest of the series with Tokyo Drift.

I'm sure there's a larger target audience than that when they decided to make the movies.

Never said it had to. I just really like cars.

I'll add it to the list.

On Any Sunday. Le Mans. Grand Prix. The Racers. In that order.

On Any Sunday is good, but then I'm less into bike racing than car racing. GP was my 3rd as well.

My friend Rocky had a video set called Lap Of The Gods, in which a French filmmaker in the '70s mounted a camera on various GP cars and filmed practice laps at all the major tracks of the time. Of course with today's mini-cams we see in-car views of actual races, but for the time this was quite impressive.

I see it's out on DVD now, but the price is a bit steep.

A short clip.

The Dragon Tattoo Trilogy (the original Swedish miniseries), aka Stieg Larsson's "Millennium". Highly recommended.
