One time on a 54 day trip on a VIIB was 130 km out from St. Nazaire and got the message from the CE , "We're out of diesel fuel sir!". When I consulted the navigator I still had enough fuel for a a little less than 1000km; the gauge was nearly touching the bottom when I finally coasted into port but made still made it. Looks like you had maybe only 25 or 50 lbs of fuel left when you finally made it home.

Just outside Scapa Flow, I was tempted to send an eel his way to see if he caught it
And the most dangerous game of hide and seek continues on "when destroyers go bad"

Now that's Seamanship! Leaning that carrier over like that to get a better angle with the spotlight...... impressive.

My tactics do NOT work for the AI, as demonstrated by a fellow u-boat in a convoy attack.
