Agreed! I bought it a few days ago and watched it last night. Looked like the German base must have been in Canada!

I need to get a copy of "Torpedo Alley" and "We dive at dawn" for my sub library.
'We Dive at Dawn' is quite good. Fairly standard mid-war propaganda stuff...good to add to a collection though.

I've been looking for Morning Departure for ages...it's a very good film!

It's available on DVD, I recently rented a copy from Blockbusters.

John Mills at his stiff upper lip British best while Richard Attenbough plays the snivelling coward to perfection.

Quick overview :- Set just after the war, a British sub meets a drifting mine. Badly damaged and stuck on the bottom with more crew left alive than they have undamaged escape sets for.

I'm suprised no one has listed the Bedford Incident here. The Cold Wars Enemy Below!

1) Hunt for Red October (joint first - it has a realistic depiction of sonar)
1) Das Boot (joint first - because its Das Boot)
2) Bedford Incident
3) Ice Station Zebra
4) Crimson Tide
5) Torpedo Run
6) Run Silent, Run Deep
7) We Dive at Dawn

You get the idea.

I saw The Bedford Incident becaused in the film description, the destroyer commander was aid by a old U-boat ace. So I bought and saw it.

I liked.
