I do wish he'd do a new Minecraft lets play. But people would probably see CoD:Black Ops right now.

That was hilarious.

Maybe NASA should experiment with something like this.

He posted that save over on the minecraft forums, if you like I will find you the link so you can download it and have some fun with the cannon of epicness I've used it several times on my saves just for the hell of it. I don't know why but I get some form of sick satisfaction seeing a pig (and on one occasion a creeper) being launched at close to the speed of sound

The link would be appreciated. I think I'll try and recreate it on the server. Despite animals being turned off.

Can turn 'm on no problem. They're just off since they only got in the way, and listening to a chicken trying to drown himself can be quite annoying.

I'm not even sure animals can be put into minecarts in multiplayer.

The few hours I’ve been able to work today, I tried getting SMP Health as complete as possible. It will be released early next week.
Here’s the status:
* Send attack network data: DONE
* Add the ability to attack other entities: DONE
* Implement falling damage: NOT STARTED
* Implement respawning for dead players: PARTIALLY DONE (there are bugs with the player keeping the current location in some circumstances instead )
* Make eating food regenerate health: DONE
* Send health updates to the players: DONE
The “attack entities” code is done on a general level, so you can hurt animals, monsters, boats, carts and even other players.
There are a couple of other tweaks in the next update as well:
* Fix leaves. Again: DONE
* Optimize the lighting update slowdowns: STARTED
* Make players riding carts or boats a long way receive terrain updates: DONE
* Fix the block re-spawning bug: NOT STARTED
* Add “pvp” toggle flag to the server settings: NOT STARTED.

The mobs are coming!

Considering this map hasn't been around too long, we will stick with it a while longer.

For a new map, I'm thinking of either disabling mobs the first day, or start off on a prepared map; meaning just a basic shelter near spawn with some torches to get started. New player spawning in the middle of the night with anything 'safe' 5 mins away would get murdered in a heartbeat. Several times.

Even if he doesn't, I would request players don't cheat.

Right, migrating server to dedicated machine is taking longer than anticipated. Server consists of a large number of small files, which is something the traditional mechanical HD has trouble with. It's moving 300MB of data at about 100KB/s at the moment.

Think I might get a fast flashdrive and copy it there. Then migrating the server would be plug&play, rather than a 45 min ordeal.

Blame Notch for not consolidating the files. Utter nightmare from a mechanical HD perspective.

server migration

Done!

Server is housed at a dedicated machine. Hopefully this will alleviate some of the issues, without causing me to go bankrupt.

(I'm sure the meterman thinks I'm growing weed in my kitchen or something)
