This list and the effort to explain everything in detail is awesome.
However a complete Download or maybe something split in a few parts would be nice. I only got to "SH5_7A_Conning_Fix" until i hit the download limit for subsim The limit itself is totally ok. I understand why that limit is in place. Me hitting it and not being able to enjoy SH5 awesomenes tonight kinda makes me though //edit: Forget everything you read until here. I just read the whole download limit text for the first time. ... My name should appear in the Aces of the Deep box on the top right soon, problem solved.

I already have all mods enabled and i'm playing a campaign (on patrol).
How can i install the 'best ever fog mod' without starting a fire? Thanks. |

Put the latest fog mod in the mod enabler folder with all the other mods . Click on Disable all mods . Click on Tasks\load mod profile . Load the latest MEP file . Continue with your campaign \ save . It wont affect your campaign \ save in any way .

I'm sorry if I ask again but want to be extra sure. I've read around that enabling/disabling mods while on patrol or during a campaign can cause ctds and issues and I think I'm going to kill myself if I loose my career.
I understood that the 'best ever fog' mod won't affect it but what about the other ~72 installed mods? Do I need to be docked to disable/enable everything? Since docking consumes 15 days, if I remember well, it can screw my missions so I also need to plan when to do that, if required. That's why the question. Ok thanks I did what you said and told yes to overwrite as the 'real environment v3' was using the file, hope I did good still have to test.
By the way, I noticed the hydrophone doesn't work on surface even without the 'no hydro on surface' mod enabled (i'm not using it). There's probably another mod in the list already fixing that, can't tell which one. |

A solid state drive + a backup program like Acronis will help you "sober".
Relax and come back when you're ready. Oh! And again, many tx for all your work. Despite the fact that UFO Enemy Unknown is out from Firaxis, for now I prefer Silent Hunter 5 + your Mods. |

Sorry to hear your hard drive crashed, I hope you got key things backed up.
I have a question concerning your changes to the .cfg file, I understand you'd probably be busy restoring things up but I post it anyway maybe some fellow sub captain can answer me too. Could you or someone else explain to a noob like me why these changes and how they affect the game before and after? And where the TDW's Generic Patcher is to be put in the mods order? Do I need it? You can use TDW's generic patcher if you have the DVD version of the game.
With the Steam version of the game it will not work! You can installl the patcher manually and it will change the necessary codes in the sh5.exe file. I would recommend to install the patcher as a mod, Trevally did a tutorial on how to: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=197960 Do a backup of the files as described in post 2 of that thread (also available as a download) This method has the advantage that if a new version is available you can delete the old one in one single go and make a new one for JSGME (this saves you undoing all changes first manually before enabling all new changes manually again)

So I followed the steps to start a OH2 campaign with sobers mods.
1) Clean install + v1.2 2) Tutorial to Kiel, Green tick, Exit to windows. 3) jsgme + Mep file + mods. 4) Run game - New Campaign - Talk to the guy - Options - Settings ..etc.. My question is ... Do I need to use GenericPatcher after all of this? |
