I admit- it looks a bit harsh now, but when base colour is applied it should loose all of the harshness, and what we will end up with will be nice coat of paint, with only darker shades along the rivet lines, and weld lines.
Furthermore the filters will unify the surface, and oil paints will add the paint fading, and pigments the streaking. It will all be sorted tomorrow- stay tuned. |

How does shading work? Do you literally just paint over the top, or paint in between the shading lines? I've always wondered...

Mix of Tamiya X-2, XF-18, XF-19, X-21, X-22 for the top part of the hull.
This is how it looks like when preshading is just visible through the main colour: Hope you like. Last edited by Siara; 01-25-09 at 08:11 AM. |

I think you are going to like next batch of pictures.
Bottom of the hull painted mix of colours based on Tamiya XF-18. I added lots of different colours to XF-18 to look the way i wanted it it look. I think it turned out satisfactory. This shot shows the surface of the saddle tanks. It took almost 6 months to get the oil canning effect on the hull, and im glad i didnt rush the job. TBC... |

Siara, the level of detail is astounding! You are certainly a gifted modeler One question though. I started reading this thread midway, so I may have missed this. I was wondering if you included the pressure hull kit that is available for this model? I know it would only be seen if you peered through the vent holes, but since you're obviously a stickler for details, I would think you would have included this. If not, how come?:hmm: Just asking. Once again, magnificent job. Can't wait to see her completed.
