The flu shot is always a best guess as to what strains will be prevalent.

"The seasonal flu vaccine protects against the influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the upcoming season."

Yes, just don't mix it with ammonia.

Right. You know, the thing is, I never have gotten a regular flu shot. I have never contracted the flu. As far as I know.

I do plan to get the flu shot this year, and will get a COVID19 shot when it becomes available. Don't want to press my luck.

Ding!
Getting a flu shot means you WILL get a very mild form of the flu that the shot is targeting. That's how it works.

When the Covid-19 shot becomes available, DON'T GET THE SHOT if you never want to get Covid-19. Instead, invest in a military surplus space suit.

Then next year they finally get a flue shot that works for Covid-19.

Will everyone get the shot?

Will the flu shot work for everyone?

I got a flu shot in October and then got the flu after the Super Bowl

I think this problem is going to last a lot longer than we think
Perhaps not with all of the numbers of contacted the flu vs died from the flu,
but with being prepared and avoiding people that may transmit it to you.

Society will change over this remarkable health scare year already
Covid 19 most likely is here to stay. Different to SARS, it will not just dissapear again, but become part of the seasonal "flu canon".

Flu shots should be considered on grounds of several factors: your age, your health condition and existing illness, and your social life and job ambience. If you are older, if you cannot avoid having lots of contacts with people, if you have diabetes, cardiovascular problems, lung problems, (etc etc), you are a likely candidate. If you are younger, have lesser contacts and are thus not exposed to risks, and have no inherent health issues, you are more likely to get away with not getting the shot. I had them when I still worked at had to drela with hundreds of cusotmer sper day on my shift. Since that stopped, i do not get it anymore, since I now live pretty much "withdrawn".

Having children (having school contacts) or people you need to care for (elderly, parents), is another consideration. The firts raise your own risk to get infected, the latter may depend on you not getting sick so that you cannot infect them.

From the age of around 60 on, the immune system is seen as having suffered considerable loss of its former strength when you were young.

The talk of the town these days are vaccines using RNA material. It is supposed to be a safer and allows for faster production times to counter pandemics than the current way of doing business. I guess we'll see if its all what they say it is soon enough.

Italy is 'still considering' school closures. The plan to close schools and universities across the country until mid-March was reportedly discussed at a government meeting focusing on the introduction of emergency measures for tackling the spread of coronavirus.

I never had the flu in my life, but getting 50's last year the doctor asked and I decided to get one. Two weeks later I had the flu for the first time in my life I'm aware of. I know they say not, but boy it wiped me out. I just got over the flu again, type A, sick for 2 weeks.

As for being prepared, I think if something major happens if you're in a big city you're pretty screwed. I have a 100 acre farm in the foothills and pretty much can live off the land if needed. I even have several of my grandpa's horse plows ready to go, just hope the harness will fit my wife..

The number of coronavirus cases in the UK has risen by 34 in a day, to a total of 85.

Shoot I'd get two wives if I were you

Went to bed coughing and woke up coughing ... Sure my type of flu can be treated, but it's still no fun being stuffed up.

Just stay home and out of everyone's way ...

What if everyone runs to get the new convid-19 flu shot when it comes out and six months later find out that it cause you to be impotent?

Might reduce global population which would help alleviate a number of growing issues such as the pandemic spread of infectious disease.

You also need plenty of hands able to hold weapons and eyes to guard against looters who then will want to take away form you what is yours.

Survial in such scenarios always means: fighting for survival.

See, that is the reason why the new vaccine will take until next year: testing. Some vaccines already are ready for testing since some days. But the full series of tests, and licensing by authorities, will take time.
