Not sure what constitutes war art. It is art and there was a war.

^Often the work of artists commissioned by the Government or armed services to go along on campaign and make a visual record (like the war correspondent, only with a sketchbook). They still have them, even in these days of photography.

This looks much earlier, as though it could even be a depiction of medieval warfare; are those spears/halberds or similar?

Indeed. It's a good idea to check if GIS can find the image, before posting it.

But I would never do that: surely it's no satisfaction to win that way

That looks like the sea beyond, and it feels medieval... is it a depiction of Agincourt?

But someone always will, that's why I check all the images and if it can be found via GIS, I simply dont take part.

Good for you, buddy I've never used Google Image Search, but I'm guessing it's a simple process.

Found it,
Peter Paul Rubens, Consequences of War

There is satisfaction in wining this way
It's a detective work working from one clue up. You can't just type painting with wooden sticks.

Did you use image search.

That is the painting but it is called La rendición de Breda (The surrender at Breda) by Diego Velázquez. I am going to say you are the winner cause you found it.

This is Rubens' Consequences of War.

Over to you.
