in the description of the manual it says i can send status reports, ship locations, and requests for escort into harbour to the bdu.
i know how to send status reports, but how do i send a ship location?

Default Any possibility to choose between torps when reloading a tube?

Can I choose what eel I can load in each tube? Or, to put it another way, can I turn off the torpedo autoloading?
I found that it is possible to unload a tube, but as soon as the torp is unloaded, the AI automatically starts reloading it with the same torp, so I cannot choose white type of eel (steam or electric) I want to load.

Nevermind. Found the Autoloading tab myself.

Default Noobie questions roll left/right, gear up/down, search patterns

Hello everyone, just a few noobie questions. What does roll left/right do? (q/e on keyboard) What does gear up/down do? (up arrow/down arrow) Are search patterns available without a mod, if so, how? I looked through all the threads here, couldn't find these. This is an awesome site for silent hunter help/mods......... Thanks in advance.

If you want to see wat command are executed when pres a key on the keyboard then when you are in the game pres ,,F1,,. After that if you are pres pressing ,,left shift,, you will have more commands key displayed.


I think up and down arrow (gear up/down) it is changing the spead of your sub.

Hi All,

I was wondering if someone could help with the events camera?
I have the option of turning it off unchecked in the options section, but when I fire a torpedo and press the F3 key, I still don't see the little window come up to watch the torpedo.

Is there something else I need to do or am I doing it wrong maybe? All help appreciated.

Ususally, after you fire a torpedo the events camera start (and close) automatically (no need to pres F3) - that i remember i had when i was plaing wit event camera - on.

You must uncheck the events camera in options WHEN IN THE BUNKER, after the tutorial, you must uncheck this again, as it resets. Hope this helps.

Default backyard filmaker

good day fine people.
i make short films as a hobby. right now i am specializing in inserting live actors into pc based video games via green and blue screen techniques. IE sh3, 4, and 5.
problem: i need background images of a ww2 battleship. (interior) i have experimented with "ship simulator" but found nothing i could use.
what drew me to the sh series was the atmosphere. rusty and dark.
ship simulator is too "clean" and well lit.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
here is an example of what im working on.

all these "mods" sound fantastic.
unfortunately, me and computers dont get along too well.
i am truly technically challenged.
i read the thread on mod installation and it was far outside my "comfort zone".
i am afraid i will botch the program and be left high and dry halfway through this project. (its happened before)
for me sh5 is touchy enough as it is.
the "free cam" mod sounded like just the ticket for me. apparently you can get the camera closer to objects in the game. i thought i could use the ships in sh5 with this mod. i have tried it in its current state but the image is too degraded after i zoom in on it. disappointing results.
i was hoping someone would know of an off the shelf decent sim that would be suitable.
you have inspired me.
i will read the mod install thread again and maybe grow some nads.

Hi,

Please advise on the keyboard keys for turning the inner disks in the Attack Disk (front and back sides). I'm using the Mangum Opus Mod.

I don't think there are any keys assigned to this, as you may know, Q and E rotate the outermost disk, all other disks are manipulated with the mouse- you can not be paused in the game to move these disks with the mouse, I have found. Hope this helps.

Q & E will rotate the Attack course pointer.
Mouse will rotate the Target disc (grab near end of pointer)
Mouse will rotate the Bearing and Lead angle disc (grab on outside part of ring where the numbers are)
Compass rose rotates with heading changes of the uboat
Relative bearing is fixed in place

Hello guys, I´m new to this forum and to SH, just started playing SH5 a couple of days ago.

I´ve read every single post in this thread (very usefull for a completely clueless noob) and still no answer, so the question must be abysmally stupid .

The fact is that I´m spending 3 to 4 torpedoes to sink a single merchant (impacts, not counting misses and duds). What I´m doing wrong? Is the angle/point of impact? I have to sit around untill the thing goes down? Other? Please, any help would be most welcomed. It´ll take me well into the Korean War to sink 100k tons...

Additionally, any tips on how to manouvre when close to a target, let´s say, in the middle of a convoy during the night, Kretschmer style?
