Great build Swat and great pics.
Myself is more into building BB from around WW2. I have been thinking about buildning a uboat, however I had some plan with it. 1 It must be motorized 2 It shall have the possibility to dive, not only throu speed, but also at o km/h 3 A little "spy" camera at the nose of the uboat- The snorkel or some wire would be the link between the camera and my "monitor"-wich I somehow have build together with the remote. But it was only a dream. I could offcourse bya Ready-to-run model, but none of them have the possibililty to dive at stand-stil and I had to take the model apart to build-in the camera. Markus

No it's never to late, it's more the money issue that's my problem to getting started. Some years ago a friend of mine Björn, who is a owner of a little modelshop( hobbyakuten) showed me a very little cameralens* I sad to him, manner you have just shown me the right type of lens I should us in my coming uboat. * He had a wire between the lens and some 3-4 " monitor and the picture was great-Think it was in HD. Imagine this: You dive and you can see everything* infront of the Uboat, as you slowly sneak ahead towards your target. * That dependt on the waters quality and how deep you go. Markus

My dream of buildning a uboat like that, first came when I was grown-up. It was when I and some of my friends saw some german from Hamburg had a show with models from WWII, swedish navy, and some others. Their were motorized and almost everything on them could move-Radar a.s.o Here are a short film from that event. http://s1235.photobucket.com/albums/...=011013_01.mp4 Markus

Hi Nils, No, I have no experience with it, nor any scale model u-boats yet, but I recently bought a 1:144 (53cm long) VII D "Minenleger". I would prefer the scale 1:72 instead, but later.

It depend on so much. It have to be a big model, 'cause there have to be room for lots of thing in the model. engine, Ballast tank a.s.o a.s.o(can't remember what everything is called) Here's a model that seems to have the right scale. However this model can't be used. It have only dynamic dive and not static-dive mode. http://data.robbe-online.net/robbe_pdf_en/1114.pdf Markus

Those what people are calling life raft canisters are actually where external reserves are.
