August steps up to Oberst HunterICX, clicks heels and salutes (in Army fashion)

"Herr Oberst I beg to report that SS Nisgeis has just confessed to me privately that he is a werewolf. I must also report that he accused me of being one as well.

Of course Sir I deny that accusation and can offer as proof of my innocence the testimony of the guard force each of who I visited several times during my rounds as corporal of the guard last night. I could not have fulfilled this duty in the form of a were beast.

Shall I form a detail to take SS Nisgeis into custody?"

*After fetching a new lantern with enough petrol in it, The Enigma starts
examining the West tower again.*

Stupid stairs, they look all the same to me. Nothing unusual to see.
*Climbing up some stairs*

Nothing, nada. *sigh*
Let's take a closer look to the walls here....
Nope, it's all OK, a moist wall, like those from an old castle.

*The Enigma climbs further until he reaches the level where there was a
small 'window' (sorry for the bad English, but I just don't know the right name
for such 'tower window').*

Let's take a closer look to that window.
Funny, I overlooked this on my previous round.
It seems there is something like wool sticking at the window edge.
Also, there are scratches to be seen as well.

*The Enigma reaches for what he thinks is wool and takes a closer look.*

No that's no wool, that's something else.
Can't figure out what it is, it's simply too dark here , even with the new
lantern.

*Turns around and goes back to the Hauptmann*

Entschuldige Herr Hauptmann.
Bitte schauen sie sich dies mal an
(Sorry Herr Hauptmann, please take a look
at this).

I've discovered this on my second inspection near one of the windows in the West tower.

I can't figure out wat it is, it's not wool, it's something else.
The wall is scratched there too.
What do you make of it?

During his inspection of the gatehaus entrance, Rear slowly goes over the recent slaughters in his mind, and more importantly who could have carried out the attacks...

Herr Nisgeis of the SS was obviously not to be trusted. Each time he looked at a corpse it was like he was enjoying it - perhaps his time in the SS had sent him mad? One might even say he was howling mad.

Gefreiter August may have been guarding that English Petty Officer in the infirmary when the Terrific first came ashore, but Rear could not say where that soldier was until recently. It seemed odd that the amount of attacks increased after August reported for duty once more.

"Hmm that is most interesting schutze. Good work."

Rear takes a closer look at the piece of material...

"Schutze I must admit I am stumped. It seems to be the pubic hair from a great beast of some variety. Let us take it to our Oberst to see what he makes of it."

Hauptmann Rear heads towards Oberst HunterICX's office in the Great Hall.

*During the examination by Hauptmann Rear, Schutze Enigma has plenty of time to think about the situation.*

That Tommy, Bakkels butchered in his sleep.
SS Nisgeis examines the remains like if he was having the time of his life.

Gefreiter Tinnman is dead, killed in such terrible way that one might think it was an animal who did this, not a human.
Same for Schutze Oberon and Schutze Tyrant.

Again, the left overs are examined by that SS freak Nisgeis with a smile on his face.

Gefreiter August accuses SS Nisgeis being a werewolf.
Nisgeis replies that August is a werewolf.

How does August come to that conclusion?
Why does SS Nisgeis enjoy the slaughter?

Upon nearing Oberst HunterICX's office, the old stone of the Great Hall corridors collapses and Hauptmann Rear falls into the darkness. After regaining consciousness, he realises that Schutze Enigma did not fall with him.

"Schutze are you up there?! Throw me down that lantern you were using earlier. I can barely see a thing in this tunnel!"

That is interesting that you should make that accusation Herr Hauptman. In spite of being listed as Officer of the Guard last night you were never seen by either myself or any of the others on guard duty.

I suspect that you and SS Nisgeis may know far more of what is happening here than you are saying.

August turns back to Oberst
HunterIC.

"Sir may I suggest that SS Nisgeis the herr Hauptman and myself be confined to cells in the castle dungeon tonight. If any of us are indeed werewolves you will know by morning which ones."

The lantern lands squarely on Hauptmann Rear's head and knocks him out cold for another few minutes. When he awakes again luckily the lantern still works.

"Schutze go and get a ladder or some rope while I follow this tunnel to see where it leads!"

Hauptmann crouches slightly in the confined space of the tunnel. It's hard going and takes a long time, but he finally reaches the end of the tunnel.

Official Discovery

The tunnel proceeds under part of the minefield and then is blocked by debris.

End Official Discovery

Hauptmann Rear can feel a draft coming from cracks in the debris, but he is not strong enough to move the rubble on his own. He starts to head back towards the Great Hall but it may be nighttime before he manages to climb out of the hole again...

"One less SS officer is always good thing. Can't go wrong there." Mookie thinks to himself while sharpening a chunk of wood into a shiv. A smile crosses his face as he begins to whistle to cover the noise of the filing.

((LYNCH VOTE = NISGEIS))

I still think Nisgeis is the most dangerously insane Jerry around here...

:::wanders about until he finds Chief Tarrasque:::

"Sir, the enemy is in disarray. They talk of werewolves and howls in the night, stories my father told to keep us children at bay. They are preoccupied, and not watching. We are not yet ready to escape, we do not know the lay of the land. Perhaps you might approve me to go through the shody wire fence they patched and follow the stream to it's beachhead."

He scuffs the dirt and a plume rises.

"If the talk is true, the sooner we leave, the more of us may leave."

"You woke me up to ask that? That's the skipper's decision. We may be stuck in this god-forsaken camp, but the rank system still applies.

Now go find the Captain and ask him."
