Mmm... got bored with the SMP, now playing solely SSP for the time being.
Need to see how 1.8 is and whether I return to SMP or not.

Started with the Better than Wolves mod, which I have to say, was a disappointing.
Takes too much time and effort to make the things and on top of that, you can
run most of the machines manually with the crank, so there's really no need
for the windmill or the waterwheel.

-------------

Last week, installed the 1.0 YogBox finally and a lesser man would break down
and cry at this point looking back it's pure awesomeness. It's best described as Minecraft's The Grey Wolves.

The adventure bit of the game has seen huge chances with the YB. Now,
you actually have proper underground ruins with staircases, corridors, halls, hidden passages etc.
And those things just go on and on for miles. (little tidying and you got yourself
an underground base. ) The treasures are actual something to look for
now, the best ones I've found have contained 1-2 diamonds blocks, iron blocks
gold blocks etc.

The RPG mod balances the treasures out, as you need to level up your crafting
to be able to use the spoils (think it's lvl30 for diamond tools). Also, the RPG
system gives you perks when you hit certain levels, f.e. reaching lvl25 in
mining gives you a 2% chance to get 2 blocks when mining something.

New mobs of course, most seen are the elemental Creepers, f.e. fire creeper
lights it's surroundings on fire when it explodes.

New items and ores are very welcome and there's tons of them, all more or
less useful to something.

What else... well the game is a tad scary again, with only 5 hearts to start
with, you need to move pretty darn carefully (and jump and scream like a
little girl when you hear skeleton firing an arrow from somewhere ).

Then there's this SOMETHING I encountered when returning to my mining
hub from a dungeon, on the other side of the room I saw that white sparkly
effect you see when mob dies, was a bit baffled by it, but thought it was a
bug or something. Continued to walk forward and out of nowhere this THING
came right next to me and let out a screeching scream (think witch from L4D),
killing me instantly (was down to 1 heart, tho). It was at the edge of the
screen and it happened so fast, that I couldn't get a good look at it, but it
gave me a pretty good jump.

YB is probably the most kickass mod compilation on MC I've yet played. Really nice to hear you're enjoying it Dowly. Do you know how the mob killed you? Did it just bump into you like a skelly or zombie? Or did it go kaboom?

And also that's really sad to hear that Better Then Wolves isn't as good as you thought it would be. I'm kind of hoping that since the Yogscast showcased the mod on YT that they'll get permission to add it to the YogBox. That, to me, would make MC amazing.

I have no idea, I died instantly due to low health. Did some digging and the mob
was most probably a "Screamer", green armored dude that can turn invisible.

I'd welcome it too, but on it's own, it just doesn't feel necessary. I mean,
90% of the stuff you get with BtW is there just to automate something you
can do manually. And considering the work involved in building an windmill,
it just isn't worth it. I liked the light/lamp blocks, tho.

Aye, I know what you mean, they're fun for a while but after that it just becomes a hassle

Ya, sorry, let's give it a go shall we? In fact I'll reset the bans alltogether, might mean a bit more work for me and possibly some ops but we're well equipped to identify and solve any problems at this point, so if pardoning someone turns out to be a bad idea we'll know soon enough.

1.8 Beta preview at PAX (whatever it is):

(Bad quality because it is a stream from Notch's phonecam)

Pretty cool, I logged into the SMP server with the Yogbox compilation installed on my game of MC and I had the minimap that's included in the mod.

Pretty cool!

Right, so reset the thing tomorrow then?

The fact nobody seems to have an opinion either way is a bit worrying.
