Telegram from U-33 NW of Hebrides Islands...
"We had sneaked away from a couple of destroyers and after a careful scan I let the sub surface and returned to my maps. Suddenly my CE report "Current depth 10 meters!" and for a moment I thought I might have ordered periscope depth by mistake (happened before ) but no? Back to the maps, but when he ten minutes later repeated "Current depth 10 meters!", I had it! Kicked him up on the bridge, so he could see for himself and let him enjoy the fine NE breeze."
