I think that it goes back to when chamberpots were a thing and would be left on a certain side of the bed, and if you got out of the wrong side and put your feet in the chamberpot....well, your day would be off to a bad start.

Yep, that would not be a good way to start the day

We say someone got up with his left foot, I doubt it has the same reason. We went from savages with holes in the backyard to a fully functioning toilet in a span of less than a generation Chamberpots are a mystery to us.

Not that much different here to be honest, if you own a house from any time before the 1950s chances are that it had an outside toilet, and a generation or two before that the way to empty the toilet was usually out of the upstairs window.

News reports today have been citing a growing number of GOP notables and power figures within and without the Party who are saying they will not attend the upcoming GOP convention. The number is growing and includes both former President Bushes, Romney and Bob Dole. It makes on wonder who will be at the convention who will have any sort of political gravitas...

Also, as I predicted to a neighbor of GOP mine, the words of Trump's former opponents will come back to haunt him and provide fodder for the DEMs:

As some comedians have said about the Trump run for President, the jokes write themselves; for the DEMs, the GOP is giving the the best material...

^ Have read about this a few second ago in a Danish News paper.

This behaviour isn't it some kind of "mocking" against those who placed their vote on Trump ?

Thus proving that they themselves have become so much like the enemy as to have become the enemy. If you can't get behind somebody that is willing to say that we've slipped, and need to fix ourselves, you really need to get the #$@% out. They are happiest when continuing to slide along the side of the iceberg, nothing to see here. If $40,000 in debt for every man, woman, and child is just fine with you, you need to get the ^%$ out. What's that work out to? $200,000 per actual taxpayer? Nope, looks like it's more like $1.1 million per actual taxpayer. What do I have to show for that? ROTFLMFAO

Not coming to the party? Good!

I'd say slim to not quite none. The Stop Trump Movement was such a shambles, and any third party attempt would carry the taint. Plus, I think it's painfully obvious that such a third party move would only aid Hillary.

It's amusing to see that there is now a push on among conservatives to confirm Obama's rather moderate Supreme Court nominee before he withdraws it. Kind of telegraphs the GOP's lack of confidence in a Trump victory. They don't want to face Hillary's SCOTUS choice.

CLOSE; but no cigar! Source one:
Quote:
The origin of the expression ‘wake up on the wrong side of the bed’ is thought to come from ancient Rome. Romans were very careful always to get up on the correct side of the bed to ensure that good luck would follow them through their days. If they got up “left foot forward” or “on the wrong side of the bed,” they believed that they would be unlucky.
Source Two:
Quote:
This expression alludes to the ancient superstition that it was bad luck to put one's left foot down first, and was so used in a number of 17th-century plays. By the early 1800s it was associated more with ill humor than misfortune.

So does this mean there is only Sanders left that hasn't dropped out?

I should imagine the bookmakers will make Clinton the shortest odds favourite ever or pretty close to it.

It seems the Slovene term is from the Romans.,
Not surprising, they did built one third of the infrastructure we still use in this country.

Sanders is hanging on. He has no chance. What he does do is draw votes from Hillary if he continues the charade of having a chance.

Clinton might just be booked yet. Oh, you mean bookies.
