So I have a 12 step program for successfully building my tower:
1.Set out outer perimeter(almost done) 2. Set out inner perimeter 3. Set out inner-inner perimeter 4. Set up a shack in the inner perimeter. 5. Fill in water in inner perimeter 6. Cut down all trees 7. Fill in all water 8. Level all ground to baseline 9. Set up initial 5 floors of the tower, and map out the first part of the bridge. 10. Dig like a madman 11. ??? 12. Bask in the glory of my tower.

I usualy make a base (small castle like walls) start a mine under it, and build up/down as I need.

Planning to add a watch tower and U-boat pen (not quite full size like ones at St Nazaire) to my house. The watch tower will probably go on top of my house with a roof garden/greenhouse at the top and possibly a balcony as well.
This will be my largest project to date, and will (if I remember) post screenshots of my progress in my minecraft ImageShack album.

Think you can count the dimensions from that image, if you want to. |

For some reason I thought that was Crecy & Kolaaja. Didn't realise it was you. Nice to see you're thinking small again.

I actually wrote a lenghty response, but I think I just say "No, dont do it".
EDIT: Ok, maybe I go into detail. The castle thingy in the last map I was making was 200di, it took me 2-2½ weeks to finish 50% of the floor. Spike, the area you are building in is like 450x450 and you have to dig quite a bit down and construct up. I think at this point I must remind that MC is still beta, what if you've spent 150 hours and got 25% done and a update comes with something really game changing? Would you just give up and start a new map? (actually, you better be or I'd TNT your place :P) Last edited by Dowly; 01-26-11 at 07:48 PM. |

I think that's not particularly fair to Spike...
Though I do agree that it may be a waste of time (I do not mean that as criticism or an insult) considering, as Dowly said its a beta. I do think that all the projects you come up with are awesome, but would better be completed as a community product and such. If you search on Youtube, theres a SMP server that created a floating castle from a japanese manga. It's awesome and, from the footage taken, they seem to have enjoyed it.
