Young Woman and the Sea
Through the steadfast support of the women in her life, young Trudy Ederle fights to overcome adversity and the animosity of a patriarchal society to rise through the ranks of the Olympic swimming team. Against all odds, she sets her sights on completing a staggering and dangerous journey — to become the first woman to swim across the brutal 21-mile stretch known as The English Channel. You don't get the chance to watch an American female hero from 1926 beat the patriarchal system and, when you do, you can just sit back in awe and marvel at her achievement. Acting was pretty good from everyone, especially Daisy Ridley, the script was nothing to write home about as you'd expect, but rising above all of that is the achievement of Trudy Ederle being the first female to swim across the English Channel. Movie Rating 7.5\10 If this movie was just a Hollywood load of bollocks it would only have got 5\10 but, the historical significance of the film puts it in it's rightful place.

The Substance
Elisabeth Sparkle, renowned for an aerobics show, faces a devastating blow on her 50th birthday as her boss fires her. Amid her distress, a laboratory offers her a substance which promises to transform her into an enhanced version of herself. I'm not doing a review of this movie as someone else tells the plot a lot better than I could, I'm giving it a rating though as Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid deserve one. Movie Rating 6.5\10 I still don't know if I've given it the correct raring as the performances from Demi, Margaret and Dennis were excellent, I might change it later and then again I might not, we'll see.
