Then a sample of the wheather transition bug which is in most environment mods. The wheather will suddenly switch around 00:26:



And the version with a correct - smooth wheather transition:



Then a demo with Northern Lights and detection:



What is happening next?

If there is need for these mods: the Moon mod is about to be finished. There is no whish list. This project as-is drained my energy. If people are willing to learn how=to-hard-code-fix I might organize an online workshop.
As how to contine: I will ask some people to 'beta-test' and depending on the results further steps will follow. I have no intention to change Fifi's or OneAlex's mod so some form of working together is the idea.

I want to thank:
- Hsie for his exellent hardcode mod. If you read this: a few of your discoveries in your assembly files I re-used!
- hughesjr for his basic voice attack profile (unreachable on Steam)
- Jerry Mason and crew

Update 6-1-2024: Release candidate 1.18 has arrived
More and more people are downloading the Night Surface attack project. So that is great! The 1.18 update we have is polishing what is already there. So this is what has changed:

SH-5 Water for SH-3 20 Km Atlantic V1000:
Ambient light for cloudy sky at night a now a bit darker
Changed the Lod factor to 15 and patches to 90 in the scene.dat for better performance

SH-5 Moon mod settings (SH-5.cfg) for all mega mods:
Adjusted sh5.cfg for vanilla, Fifi's, OneAlex & LSH 2022 according to this change in ambient lights

Moon mod:
- Northern lights will only be visible when there is no mist (totally clear night). Also the odds to to see them has been increased
- Northern lights are now a bit closer to avoid issues with Hsie's night vision fix
- Settings for Fifi's original environment have been removed after chat with Fubar
- Removed an obsolete sync statement to increase performance with a few FPS

Of course I like to thank Fubar295, Dieselglock & Mister_M again for their help during the testing!

Currently adding all Med files to standalone mod :doh::D:haha:
So next update will not have separated files anymore (except for Med water & colors if desired)
Sailing back and forth into Mediterranean will be possible any date (more populated from La Spezia starting date though - 01/10/1942)

Work almost half done, career tested starting 01/10/42 at La Spezia… loading time=less than 4 mn! :o
Quite incredible :hmmm: the more I add units, the faster it loads! :haha:
(Made many optimizations and corrected some values inconsistencies that could explain faster loadings)

i'm glad to release this new mod; Carl Peters fleet tender ships (Carl Peters, Adolf Lüderitz, but the unit is intended also to play the part of other similar tender ship or ship classes like Hela, Tsingtau, Bauer class...):

This is the twentyfifth of a serie of units for Kriegsmarine, reworked in collaboration with flush deck.

Pack include a multiskin unit based on Carl Peters class tender ships (three skins included, a generic gray one and one camo skin for every ship in the class).



Based on LSH3 dev team for the original ship, original model imported by SOM-Group, with slight changes by rowi58, 3d updated using SHV model and parts and a lot of details (portholes, stairs, cables, lifeboats, glass windows\interiors, turning radars\rangefinders...).

NEW VERSION 5.5 IS OUT!
(Download in my signature spoiler, or first page of this thread)

Few changes that come to mind:

- Leigh Lights repaired, should be fonctional when date is reached (at night!)

- New flags (and some ships may have more than one!)

- New Ships (from Ccom12 & AlexB and adapted)

- Old ships completely re-worked and optimized

- Campaign files configuration dates adjusted, so units have latest equipment

- Campaign files waypoints adjusted & corrected

- Campaign files convoys units adjusted, so units are same at save reload!

- Campaign files harbor units adjusted

- Roster & roster definition sides corrected

- Black Sea campaign files also adjusted

- VIIB type have now handrails!

- Escorts burning in bad weather SHOULD be fixed (if not, try to play WITHOUT seasonal waves activated in Commander options)

- Loading times are even shortned due to optimization

- Etc etc (i don't recall all the changes :haha:)

Forgot to say I was unable to repair the Kiel kanal waypoints plotting … so until I find out a solution, I deleted the waypoints.

Hope you will enjoy it!
To me, it's my best version ever!

Please download lastest 5.6 version... Bordeaux harbor ships have been fixed.

Bonus: Added Vondos German Carl Peters ship, plus Vondos Komet & Pinguin ship...and of course their campaign files.

Also added new harbor East of South Afrika: Port Elizabeth (and its ships)… useful for flotilla 12 campaign from Bordeaux.

First these bugs affects the campaigns. The naval academy works as it should. Something I have seen before. So let me explain what I found:

There are multiple date/time variable in sh3. One of them controls the moon and the environment and one is the current date/time you see on the watches etc. The first one is not correct after a save/reload. After a reload the daynumber is set to 1. The effect you can see below:



In this case I started a patrol on the first of April 1941 (first row). Without safe/reload I continue the patrol until april 26th where I did a safe (second row). Then I reloaded the campaign (third row) and you can see the results. In the unpatched version the moon is back to its postition of april the first as well as the sky. Please notice that when we get closer to June the 21th days get shorter and the sun will set later.

All these pictures are same location and same time.

The fix corrects the date that controls the moon and environment by overwriting it with the current date/time just before calculations are done. This also solves a second bug as the update of that date/time is not correctly done.

So with this fix the moon will also follow the calendar provided with the moon mod.
