Have the bugs been fixed in cliffs of dover?
I want to buy it, but my friends have told me not to.
But that is some time ago and cannot seem to find any info on bugfixes.
I mean, what is the general consensus?

Looking at the IL2 website will be prejudiced, they will claim it works well.

I'd recommend it, as would TarJak, and a few others, but especially so with the Team Fusion patch mentioned.

I wouldn't look at the IL-2 website, look for Air Tactical Assault Group's site instead.

Cliffs of Dover does work well with the Team Fusion patches and it is good fun whilst playing it. This is my own oppinion and I'll happily caveat it as such: it's good fun until you get tired of the same one map, the same limited mission types and on public servers: seeing the same match up between 109E4N's and Spitfires MkIIa's constantly.
As a member of team fusion we are not allowed to discuss the ins and outs of the modding etc. however for those hanging on for any real new content such a new theatre map: don't hold your breath as it is over a year away yet if not more.
If you can get Cliffs of Dover on steam for less than £10 then I'd say grab it if it interests you: you'll certainly get more than your money's worth with it, just be warned that it is a sim that is no longer officially supported so if you buy do so with the mindset that what you get and the current teamfusion pack could well be it.

What they said. It's great fun to fly and has some excellent graphics and with the Team Fusion patch some good flight modelling. The TF patch fixes some bugs, but you need a reasonably gutsy rig to play it on in full graphical glory. One of the key things that still bugs me is the lack of really good anti aliasing in game, however some of that can be overcome by using some AA injection tools.

If you can pick it up cheaply then its worth a look.

Thanks for the update. I'm seeding back. Now all I have to do is find my disks and re-install, so I can patch and fly

Well, I've updated, and had a couple of hours on the ATAG server. Very impressive work by all involved, but no real performance increase in my end, although it's probably my connection to the ATAG server which is not brilliant at the best of times. Visibility of enemy aircraft also still seems a bit off, but I suspect that's more to do with the lack of large bomber formations than anything else. I distinctly remember reading RAF pilots claiming that on a clear day they could see the raids forming up over France whilst on patrol on the coast. In Clod I'd say that the dots appear slightly England side of mid-channel, and since they're usually, well, in my experience anyway, two or three dots at a time, seeing them isn't easy.

I suspect though, more than anything, my computer is finally reaching the limit of its capabilities, and my internet is just not up to snuff to dogfight on the ATAG server. Just a few minutes ago I...somehow...got a Bf109E4/N off the ground, probably the automatic pitch helped, and whilst popping in and out of menu to see what key I had the cannons on I experienced a lot of load time, and a fair bit of...what I would describe as clunkiness. Then I managed to get back into the cockpit, just rescuing the 109 from a dive into the Channel. I spotted Flak so turned to investigate, was bounced by a Hurricane, then everything froze up for about six or seven seconds and I crashed into the ground.

So, for now, I'll stick with BOBII still...

if you are having a hard time seeing planes at a distance, try tweaking the gpu settings.
