Is Anyone Playing DC in 2012/13?
I'm sure this question has been asked many times; however, is there anywhere where one can play SHII and DC like the 'ole days'? Thank you in advance. U100

With PM installed, both DC and SHII are peer-to-peer and, off the top of my head, I do not know of any other client software that will aid in linking internet games. You pretty much need to know the IP of the player you wish to play and hope the ports aren't firewalled. I have run some LAN parties with both games and it is certainly a great experience, regardless of whether you prefer iron coffin or tin can.

I have never played online with anyone. I kind of wish there was a third party matchmaking service as I am kind of protective about my actual IP. I know Xfire supports SHII, but it doesn't support multiplayer. If there were a big enough demand, maybe someone can convince Xfire to establish some kind of compatibility with SHII/DC with PM. I dunno. It is a thought.

I'd gladly take you two on. I have SH2 and it runs nicely. I'd love to play SH2 online. First problem is my connection speed. It is slower than some Dial Up. My download speed averages out at 12 kb/s. Otherwise, I'd play SH2 online.

Wow. That IS slow. There is no way that a connection would remain stable by today's standards.

Well I don't kid around when I say I got a slow connection.

I just recently DC loaded it after a 10 year absence. In trying to get up to speed I've been playing the Pacific Campaign and found I can't get past the "Supplies" scenario.
Since I've loaded the 1.1 patch, the escorts assigned to the convoy go off and depth charge a sub on the first night out and either do one or two things. They continue to drop DCs and search for the sub even after the kill it or the head back South after that initial contact. Afterwards, it's just me in the Hughes against repeated air attacks. And I mean repeated. The number of waves is incredible. I thought 1.1 eased up on the air. |

Install Projekt Messerwetzer patch. That fixes some stuff. After V1.1, there is only PM and those are the latest patches. My advice to you Dry Heat is to install PM.
Patch up before you play!
