Here are some pics of my layout. Basically a U shape along three walls of the room. There will be an island section in the center later. The room is 17 feet X 17 feet. Still laying track so I'm not as far along as August.
It's all code 83 track so I had to get all new stuff.

This is along the South wall. It's really two switch yards.
24 inches wide by 14 feet. There will be a little section to the left on the east wall. How big it will be will depend on if I ever want to use that bathroom again. The layout will have some trees on it so that may be an option.

The head of the yards. The bridge thing is just a temp. Don't really know what I'll do with it.?????

That leads to the west wall

The NW corner. A double crossover here to get from one oval to the other.

And the North wall. It's 48" X 96" The two dead ends will crossover to the other side via the center island.

GP9 Got another just like it on order DCC with sound.

The little switcher is DCC the others DC.

This one is my favorite. Virgina & Truckee. Ran form the mines in Virgina City to Carson City and than to Reno. Not the right locomotive in this shot.

Some of the rolling stock.

Very nice Magic! Have you tried installing any DCC controllers in those DC loco's yet?

I remember reading as a kid about an enthusiast who converted a spare bedroom into a layout, then proceeded to make holes in all the walls and running the track along a narrow shelf in several rooms. The train would come out of a "tunnel" and run along the wall, with a painted background behind. Every room was different.

Looking good Magic. This thread makes me want to grab my trains and build a small layout!

I have two other locos, GP 7 and a GP 9 in SPRR gray both Athern that I would like to make DCC, them and the green 4 6 2 steamer.
Problem is I spent most of my working life as a heavy equipment mechanic and if it don't work get a 16 pound double jack. Not the best tool for HO.
Might get around to it later but for now I just want to get things running.

@ AVG go for it man, there are lots of interesting track plans on the Interwebs for 4x8 or so and lots of new stuff that make building so much easier.

I'm not a stickler for exact detail or realism just trying to get something that looks good and runs well, makes the job much easier.

It's actually easier than it might appear. When the time comes you want to try it let me know and I can help with advice and experience having done a bunch myself.
