Aah, I wondered, it went down last night.
This game has effectively eaten my life. I have a nice little base with a minecraft railway leading to a deep cave which leads down to some lovely lava fields and obsidian. Todays project will be to bring a canal into and underneath the base so that I can get a rowboat out to sea without having to venture outside and have a creeper explode in my face. I can also recommend Dokus RPG texture pack. And, for those still on the fence: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/tag/mine-the-gap/ |

Seriously though, you have to pay for this? It's great, and addictive as hell, but i wouldn't pay for it lol

Aye, addicting as hell. Got it last night and I think it was around 5-6am before I went to bed.
Still kinda pondering what to build. Hollowing a whole mountain and transforming it to an natural castle would be pretty sweet. Ow and as for the creepers? I hate them! I had literally just finished my big project on building a large shaft to the mountain top when this one creeper comes out of nowhere and KABOOM, the whole top part of the shaft is one big mess. |

I've built a little outpost where I barricaded myself after a creeper exploded in my face.
Dug some tunnels to a hill and dug up to the surface and built a small castle which is still being built. I have taken more screenshots as I've played. |

The best way to deal with creepers I've found is to whack them and then back off while they're hissing, and then dart back in and whack them again. They expand sideways whilst building up to explode, so if you see it doing that, back the heck off.
Still hasn't saved me from getting blasted off ledges or ambushed by the bloody things as I walk out of my door. Skeleton archers...them I do hate, I can't get close enough to whack them before they've dealt me heavy damage. The only thing to do is play them at their own game and fire arrows back at them. Oh, and if you come across something looking like this: Watch out! It's a mob spawner and it will spawn infinite amounts of monsters (although usually at no more than three or four per time) until you are able to destroy it. The loot in the crates can sometimes be worth it though. |

At nine euros versus the amount of time sunk into it, it probably works out at better value than most proper commercial games out there. Plus you have the fact that it's constantly being upgraded, new things being added, new ideas being experimented on and when all is said and done and finished, instead of paying twenty dollars for the game, you'll have paid nine and still have the full game.

My humble beginning, boat shack in the foreground and the entrance or "D-Day Bunker" as I refer to it right behind it with corridor leading deeper into the mountain. The pile of rocks just above the "bunker" on the hill is my secondary exit (will be once I can be arsed to build some ladders) to allow for quicker access to wood.
Right, better get back inside, getting dark. |

How deep you have to go to find some good stuff? I'm 44 blocks deep, mining an 10x7 area downwards and the richest find has been 6 blocks of iron so far.
