You need to subdivide the larger pieces of the gun into smaller surfaces. That helps get rid of the ugly triangle shapes. For instance, the side of that turret should be sliced into maybe 5-6 pieces, and then triangulated. One neat trick is to use lots of polygons at the corners of a shape, so you get a very sharp, well defined edge with ambient occlusion and/or similar effects.
Unfortunately, all this raises the polygon count but it has to be done to keep the shapes looking neat.
