UD-5 freedom of action. U 154 in position CD 9255 at 1400/21/10 for rendezvous with returning "Tannenfels". Note to follow. Boat's attention is drawn to the fact that enemy is using submarines with surface silhouette similar to that of a German as decoy! The British King's African Rifles regiment captures 800 Vichy French troops in Madagascar, without incurring a single casualty of their own. British officers Major Ronnie Littledale and Lieutenant-Commander Billie Stephens, having escaped from Oflag IV-C prisoners of war camp at Colditz Castle in Germany on 14 Oct 1942, successfully make it to Switzerland.
