Default Looking for an new GPU...

... to replace my GF8800GTS 320MB.

I've been checking out the ATI 4870HD 512MB, how it would compare with what I have now?

If you can afford it GO FOR IT!

The only reason I am saying that is GDDR5. That is insane!

Also the ATI cards have HDMI audio. Set it up right and you will get 7.1 LCPM (Lossless) audio going to the Amp. Then get a HDMI to DVI adapter and go from the HDMI out of the Amp and into the display.

Now of course this means you have to have an Amp that does all this. However, If you are considering such a card you likely have the funds to invest in an Amp.

BTW don't bother with a crossfire. Spend the money supporting a X2 and reduce the strain on the power supply and the power bill.

Check this out!

BTW in case you are looking for stuff to go with that card.

The audio solution: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882120081

The HDMI cable: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812189053 (Don't go with 50 dollar cables.. HDMI is either works or no work there is no middle ground.)

HDMI to DVI: Either http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812226015 as an adapter but I suggest http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812270114

(NOTE: Assumes the Amp will be 6 ft from the PC)

230€ isnt lot from a GPU, that's why I'm checking it out. Add 50€ to that and I can get an 1gig version.

Do you mean for the X2 version?

I strongly suggest the X2 because it will mean you are good to go for atleast a year. Until the Sub 40nm cards start to hit the market.

A year? May I clarify abit. I dont give a flying **** if I get 1000FPS or 100FPS in a game, as long as it runs nice and smooth. So, my 8800GTS having served me for 3-ish years now very nicely, if a YEAR is all that an X2 can give me, I turn to consoles.

Ow and no, I meant the normal version, not X2. That goes way over my price range.

EDIT: NEAALL!!! Why the heck is F-O-C-K now censored?!
