Default New build

I'm finally building a new computer after 7 years and thought I'd run my build by some here for input/opinions/advice. This will be my 3rd self built comp. SO here's the link to my newegg wish list.

OK - your going rather large on the PS (planning on crossfire in the future?) - but stay away from Thermaltake.

Look into this one instead.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817702015

BFG makes a great PS - VERY solid, good with spikey power, and you can't beat a lifetime warranty - especially at 120 bucks cheaper. I use a 1000W in my machine and LOVE it!

I take it the 80G drive is for the OS, 300G for games? Is 300Gb's enough? Your spending money on the "speed" factor - but your probably not going to get your money's worth when you compare the limited size. You may want to consider a bigger drive - because 300Gb's won't hold that much nowadays....

I would be complaining over not getting OEM pricing on the OS since your building a complete system - but they dont offer OEM for single users looks like. Bummer.

All in all some great choices there. Keep an eye on temps once you start loading her down more. Have fun!

You've got my plans figured out pretty good. I am planning on going SLI sometime in the future, but figured all I need is one card to make it work for the moment. That PS looks good I think I'll swap those out then. Oh and I found an OEM for WIN7 Pro so I'll swap that out to lower costs as well. The hard drive I was really thinking about, would 300 be enough? For now yes, for later...? So I'll probably play it safe and up that to 1TB. Heat. I underestimated heat on my first build, so that's been a major focus for this build.

That's a pretty nice case there too.

Make sure you go with a 64 bit version of Windows 7 and not the 32 bit version, otherwise you'll be very unhappy when you can only access 3GB of the 12GB of RAM.

You're not planning on overclocking, right? Kingston is nice, but they aren't overclockers.

Maybe throw in a tube of high-grade thermal paste.

If you decide to do that, go with Arctic Silver 5. By far the best on the market.

The best part is you have the satisfaction of building it yourself.

You'll know what makes it tic.

Just got home with new build. Been using and abusing the same computer for 7 years. P4 2.8 HT, 2g ddr1 ram, agp vid card, win xp. It was top of the line in 2003, but these days most of you guys have left me in the dust! With the help of my brother-in-law (who just happens to own a computer shop) I was able to get enough money together for a new one. Phenom 2 quad 945, 4g ddr2 1066 ram,2 wd750 black hard drives configured in raid o, ati 5770 viv card, win 7 64bit. Am amazed and freaked out by the speed of this thing! Haven't seen the wife or the dog in two days. They may have left and I just don't know it yet. I hope not, because I really liked that dog.

That's about my story too. I've had my current computer for about 7 years and it's time for it to retire to internet only. But I ordered the parts for the new one now, should all be here by the end of next week.
