What is Control Zone Radius
hello,
i was browsing an RGG in a campaign DotMis file and noticed a parameter which i could not explain. what is a control zone radius?

I am thinking that it is used in the Multi-Player missions, and has to do with player-controlled convoys... can't remember exactly KaleunMarco, but look in those missions under the "Game / Data / MultiMissions / ADV*.mis" files, and see if it isn't used in there. If memory serves (slow and inattentive service), it has to do with the range of Convoy Commanders influence on other ships and groups marked as "Tactical"... maybe.

Naw. That's a bog-stock WayPoint parameter in all mis files that signifies how big of an area the ship / plane / group / whatever can stray from the waypoint as-placed. Of course, if the asset can't "make the turn", it does what it wants to anyway...
cgrimes uses them in the Aleutian Patrols, included in FotRSU in the Quick Patrols section, but I still don't understand what they do... It does draw a circle around the location of a given group with that set... ?? I don't understand the "why" though... It's been too long since I did an "ADV" Multi Mission with one of my kids... I wonder if I can talk one into doing that again, just to see which group does what in the scenarios... I cannot immediately see the "boss" convoy, and they definitely do not invoke the ControlZoneRadius in them, nor the "TacticalGroup" as "true"... |

When I first looked I was thinking it might be if you are hunting and go in that radius the (target) vessel/s come in to visual, but I'm probably wrong lol.

I think you're really close with that. Notice the tick box for "Is tactical group"? You can set a group up that only spawns when the player sub comes into a "trigger" area. I usually use a MapZone for that, and then Triggers and Events. The ControlZone might be a short-cut of sorts for that, but of course, like most things Ubisoft did, there is no documentation, and a person has to do 3 weeks of test missions just to find one little tidbit of info they might never use otherwise...

You mention (Trigger), I remember in the old SH2 days if for example you were travelling along and an enemy ship came the other way, when you both came in to contact the enemy ship triggered an aircraft or another ship/s.
Those other aircraft or ships were not on the map, they only appeared once the trigger was activated, so this zone thing if I am close maybe a similar thing, I'm not well up on doing missions yet otherwise I would do some tests to help, it needs someone who can do it quick. Col.
