Poll on graphics
Yeah, this is my biggest dilemma. I want fancy water, a convincing weather system, beautiful models and detailed interiors. But as a lone hobby developer this takes alot of time.
This poll will be interesting as soon as the next demo is released, but feel free to discuss it allready if you have seen the videos, photos and progress in my old thread. There is soooo many things to improve, and plenty will be improved no matter! Should I spend more time on the graphics before you would be interested in playing it? If the sim features fits you, would you pay for it even though the graphics are low level? Some recent screenshots can be found here: https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpos...62&postcount=3 Thanks for your response!

Why not release it as Early Access. It looks good enough to play if the gameplay is there. You can always improve the graphics over time and release as patches.

Hey Adrian!
Thanks for the input! I am planning to release a version, hopefully within a month for everyone to try. After that I will make a plan depending on your input on it and what bugs are found. Cheers!

Great Naval Battles
Greetings, one of my favourite and long missed games of my youth was Great Naval Batlles of the Atlantic.
Please don't bight off more than you can chew. I know a little programming and your task must be gargantuan. I am not so interested in turning dials but having the turrets, torpedoes and helm functional, much like SH4 or GNB-A. Please look at great naval battles of the atlantic or pacific, If you could make a modern version even with this level of graphics, I would be more than willing to part with $100 for it. Kindest regards PK Last edited by P.Konrad; 04-05-20 at 09:24 PM. Reason: Spelling mistake |

Hey PK!
Thanks for the input! Yes, we are one the same page. I have never actually played the GNB games, but I have studied some videos and reviews of it. And it is the style I am going for. Please let me know later when my demo is out what you miss from GNB that could fit in Battleship Command!

I think your focus on graphics wiz bang will lead to folly. The problem is it is always a bridge too far. Many a development TEAM has falling into this trap. There is a huge hole in the market for a ww2 simulation of the caliber of Dangerous Waters. Something with gun directors that can (an must) be allocated to guns, search lights, a damage model that models listing, and counter flooding, a damage model with enough detail where keeping aircraft aboard ship is a concern, ect ect ect. Something like that old DOS game Action Stations. I dont want an arcade shooter. I want a game with RNG that takes into account crew quality, experience, nationality differences, ect. When a ship opens fire, I want the hit rate to be as close as possible to historical odds. No arcade shooters.
A game like that doesnt even need a 3D view. In fact, if I were working on it, I would do the 3D graphics last. |

Hi Horrido!
We are definitly on the same page and I agree with your points. Most of your wishes are on my todo list. I am interested in spotting targets, rangefinding and spotting splashes, so I want that to be a part of the game. That's one of the reasons why the 3d graphics has some importance in Battleship Command. But right now I am satisfied with the graphics and focusing 100% on gameplay.
