Default Danger from the Deep 0.2 released

Hi, things were very quiet for the last monthes, i suppose now everyone knows why
Dangerdeep 0.2 is out, there's an massive amount of new features and improvements (as well as bugfixes), the list is huge. If you want to check it out, it's at http://www.dangerdeep.net/changelog.php.
New features are, hydroachoustics, it's working, for all the 3 (passive) sonar types, the GHG, KDB, and the BG. Which sonar is displayed in the interface, depends on the uboat type and period of war, since this was relative to the uboat type and period of war
At the moment, you can see the sonar intensisty at the selected frequency bands in the map screen, it's not "translated" into sound yet, since it's work in progress (and quite a complex issue, but basically, you'll be able to select no frequency cuttoff, 1-3kHz cuttoff, 3-6kHz cuttoff, and 6-7kHz cuttoff, so, this will be the target of an small update in some monthes, together with the associated sounds and frequency cuttoffs/responses of each sonar equipment).
Ok, back to the features, a "short" list:
  • Working hydroachoustics code + sonar equipment (KDB, GHG, BG)
  • Added skins support for models (diffuse, bump, specular skins)
  • Added 3 Liberty ship models, different periods of war/cargo.
  • Added skins for the Liberty ships, for different theater of operations/dates
  • Added North Sands class freighter (aka Fort Ships) and 2 variants
  • Added skins for North Sands class freighters, for different regions/dates
  • Added a North Sands class based CAM ship, with Hawker Sea Hurricane
  • Added an Heinkel He115B seaplane, minelayer (Kustenfliegergruppe 406, Norway stationed, norwegian skin)
  • Added 11 skins for the type VIIC uboat, including a U552 and U47 skins (red tailed devil, and bull of scapa flow, i guess everyone knows the skippers )
  • Added a new mode of navigation in-game, now RMB calls a popup menu, with the stations, substations, and other options, such as music playlist
  • Added in-game soundtracks
  • Added new control screen, much more readable, and historically correct (thanks to Thorsten's visit to U995 in laboe, and U2540 at Bremerhaven, altough we don't have a type XXI model or stations yet)
  • Vastly improved day sky rendering, and night sky rendering
  • Shaders now dependent on light sky color, and other improvements on shaders
  • Added Flower class corvette model, and 2 variants, depending on period of war.
  • Added 15 skins for Flower class corvettes, at the moment, only Royal Navy, and Canadian Navy, USNavy and Coast Guard skins will be added later, as well as german captured Flower corvettes.
  • Added skins for the Kennebak tanker.
  • Selected target now has an visible red indicator.
And tons of other features, improvements, gameplay improvements, bugfixes.
Note that the game was now separated into binaries/executables packages, and into data packages. So for the windows users, you need to download the executables, and the data files. There are instructions in the website, at http://dangerdeep.sourceforge.net/download.php.
For other platforms, this is the situation.
At the moement, the source compiles and runs on x86-32 and x86-64 Linux and FreeBSD, and on x86-32 Windows. There are binaries already available for x86-32 windows, and x86-32 linux (debian), there's also a Gentoo ebuild, and the source code obviously.
Later packages will be added for x86-64 debian, x86-32/64 suse rpms, perhaps also redhat rpms, obviously, the x86-32/64 FreeBSD 4/5/6/7 ports in the next few days, and a couple of users helped us changing some things in the code to build Dangerdeep on PPC64 OSX, but at the moment, we don't have binary packages for PPC64 OSX yet, however, they will be added later. If there are any volunteers willing to compile Dangerdeep on PPC64, we would apretiate it a lot if you contacted us (on x86-64 OSX as well).
Some users also reported success in building Dangerdeep on Sparc64 Linux, and Sparc64 and IA64 (Itanium/Itanium2) FreeBSD, however we don't have much information about this, or if it runs ok at all.

As for the rest, there are some new soundtracks, in Creative Commons License, altough the rest of the artwork remains restricted to Dangerdeep, with the exception of the above mentioned soundtracks, and 2 soundtracks that were in public domain (radio recordings from before WW2, found on www.archive.org).
This doesn't means however that you can't contribute, if you do want to contribute, whatever artwork you want to contribute, will be placed, obviously, on whatever licenses you choose, but the main developer's team artwork will remain restricted.
I mentioned this because there was some confusion regarding the GPL license and what was Creative Commons or not, in some forums, and since there's a lot of different material in the game, everything has to be credited accordingly, to avoid any legal issues that would certainly damage the project.

That's it, you can see the screenshots here:
http://dangerdeep.sourceforge.net/gallery.php

Remember that this is a 0.2 release, this game is in alpha stage, and the developers team is very small, so the development resources have to be micromanaged to be able to produce releases on a semi-regular basis, which means things take its time
Someone asked in the dangerdeep's forums if the project was dead, since there were no news for a long time. Now you know why everyone was silent

Any bugs/problems, please post them in the forums > http://www.dangerdeep.net/forums/
That's pretty much it, hopefully in the next few days we'll have binaries for the remaining platforms
