Steering boxes

I'm trying to evade a warship and the noise profile tells me the ambient noise is 85 decibels. I turned everything off. But it says my steering boxes are creating 85 decibels. Can I turn those off some how?

Next to to Valve (in mid ship) there is the depth steer station. Tell your engineer (right click on steering station) to tell the two crew men to use manual steering (instead of electrical).

Hold alt if you have trouble finding it, should pop up.
