Silent Hunter III from 2005 bring your game play to 2015 with the
LIVING SILENT HUNTER III EDITION 2015 Mega Mod

A popular way to take the speed is using the stopwatch on the navigation map.
Go to the navigation map.
Open up the map so you can see the targets bow.
Use the short cut key 'O' to bring up the stopwatch or an officers icon
Pause the game.
Start the stopwatch.
Mark an X on the targets bow.
Un-pause the game.
Run the stopwatch for 3 minutes and 15 seconds.
You can use a little TC.
Stop the stopwatch.
Mark an X on the targets bow again.
Measure the distance to both X marks i.e. 600 metres = 6 knots.
Draw a line through both the X Marks to make a position past the U-boat.
Take the protractor and make a 90 degree angle.
Bring the u-boat on to the protractor line to create a firing position.

You could also use a kitchen timer set to 3 minutes and 15 seconds and do it in real time.

Another way is to use the U-jagd.

Hi Alrazi
When do the Ctd's take place?
Make manual saves, do not use the autmatic game saves.
Do not run high TC levels near ports.
Do not make game saves closer than 60km to any destroyed marks.
Do not make game saves submerged.
Use CTRL+ F8 to check your frame rate.
The recommended minimum gpu is 2gb if running a mega mod.
Check this out as it contains useful information.

Hi Alfrazi
The first auto save you see is 'Autosave Enter Base'.
This is the auto save that starts your current mission and also ends your patrol.
You only ever use this automated save to enter the bunker.
Before you ask the 'Flotilla Leader' to start your mission you need to make a manual save.
This is done by using the 'Esc' key.
When you see the 'Main Menu select 'Save Game.'
Look where your curser is!
It is at the bottom of your screen waiting for a manual save name to be typed in.
You can call your save whatever you want.
Having named the save, now select the 'Save.'
Exit back to the 'Main Menu.'
Now go to 'Load Game' and load your new save that you will now see at the top.
Go to the 'Flotilla Leader' and start your mission.
So, the important rule here is always make a 'Manual Save in the 'Bunker' before starting a mission.

Now when you are in the game you will notice that every 25 minutes an 'Autosave In Game' takes place with each one overwriting the previous one if your gaming session is long enough.
When you are ready to finish your gaming session put your avatar on the bridge and then press the 'Esc Key'.
Make a new 'Manual Save' as in the previous instructions and exit back to the 'Main Menu and then 'Exit the game' back to the desktop.

On your next gaming session you will notice that the 'Manual Save' you made has replaced the automated 'Autosave In Game' saves.
So, the important rule here is always make a 'Manual Save when you have finished your gaming session and then use this 'Manual Save' to start your next gaming session.

Using this easy way of saving your games when used correctly will stop you getting ctd's from corrupted automated game saves.

Default ahhh

Ok, so basically what you are saying is to ALWAYS use manual saves NOT the auto saves when starting or ending the game, never log out on an auto save, and never resume on an autosave?

Hi Alrazi
Always here to help at anytime.
Just to confirm, never use the autosaves, always replace them with your own saves and you will have a much more stable game.
