Default Rapid rudder movements (RFB)

Hello

After many years, I return to SH IV. I play in the SH IV + RFB 2.0 + RFB Patch 06 June 2019 + RFB Patch 23 April 2010 setting.

* The problem is the sudden deflection of the rudder when changing course - by 40 degrees. This happens surprisingly quickly. As if the PC always used the Hard to Port or Hard to Steerbord key. As a result, the ship loses speed, especially underwater.
This is not yet a problem at a distance from the opponent. However, it is difficult to maneuver when a destroyer using sonar is approaching. How to "evade" the electromagnetic signal then?

Is there a patch that will improve this? For example, is it possible to set the Hard to Port or Hard to Steerbord keys so that they allow you to change the course by only 3-5 degrees with one press? Another press – course change by another 3-5 degrees?
Is it enough to overwrite the lines of code in the Data folder? Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer...

From what I remember, in SH III you could manually tilt even the horizontal rudders.

* In TMO, a patch can be used that causes water/hearing disturbances after the drop of depth charges. Is there one for RFB? I tried searching the SubSim.com forum.

Regards

ahoy, teed.

you can manually deflect the rudders in SH4.
go to the Nav Map. on the HUD there is a dial for direction. below the dial there is a small graphic of horizontals. click on the horizontals and the dial changes from direction to to rudder deflection. the horizontals are a toggle to switch between true direction and rudder deflection.

i assume that you can take it from here.

good luck!

Hello KaleunMarco

Thank you for such a quick response. There was no patch.
I must admit that the simplicity of this solution surprised me. Everything is "at hand".

Just in case, I checked the manual - this is how it is described... In short - read, read and read again. Well, unless you run out of strength - write to SubSim com!

ach, i forgot about the DC (depth charge) patch.

i am not aware of a mod/patch for DC effects although i can say, from experience, that DC explosions WILL affect your boat in the water.
i have been bounced around in all three dimensions when a DC explodes close aboard and i am playing RFB v2.0 with RSRDC v5.75.

Hello

I asked about the DC effect because there is no mention of it in the RFB manual. Meanwhile, disturbances in the water after the destroyer's attack are a curtain behind which the submarine can hide.
I remember playing Dangerous Waters - after the torpedo head exploded, the screens were covered with milky lines and a dull gurgle came from the speakers. This went on for a while. Besides, you just need to read books from the period of World War II.
I wrote about the TMO add-on, which has two such patches (I found them on SubSim).
Thank you for pointing out RSRDC v5.75. , I will get acquainted with it, I will try it out.

I'm going back "to the roots", i.e. S-18, rulers, protractors, pencil. Trigonometry at its purest.

Regards
