Gunner HEAT PC
Not even a contender to Steel Beast Pro PE
The tank game you've been waiting for It's a weird time for fans of modern tank combat games. The straight-shooting simulator titles from the turn of the millennium are no more, replaced by free-to-play games with modern vehicles locked behind aggressive pricing or absurd playtime. As tank nerds, we need a game that gets right to the good stuff - modern tanks, realistic system and damage models, and a focus on fun over all. With Gunner, HEAT, PC! we aim to make that dream a reality. No more staring at locked MBTs in your progression tree and wondering if you'll ever get to play them. No more spending industry prices to buy industry simulators just for a taste of something worthy. We're making a great tank game because that's what we want to play. https://gunnerheatpc.com/news |

that honestly looks very good to me. there's been a real drought of modern tank sims that don't look like they were made in 1997. steel armor was the last great tank sim unfortunately it never went beyond the 50s era tanks. i can't wait to get my hands on the t-72

While the game of this thread looks good, I just say killing SBP is - well, difficult...

I tried the demo, and repeatedly. But it was a very desillusionzing experience. The state of the game was way too early to release a demo. The stability was not there, I had many crashes, the AI was a desaster, and any reasonable impression of what the game feels like thus was prevented from beginning to end. No session alsted longer than 2-3 minutes at best before it crashed.
The landscape, the rolling ground up and down, looked very good, however. I wish them good luck and still success, but for the time being I am out.

Yeah, I hope this turns out good. The DRM system for Steel Beasts Pro PE drives me nuts.

GHPC was released as early access on Steam on 09/06. Pretty much no reaction on this forum? I think I know why, but then again there are some 480+ happy customers already.
So the question is: will GHPC be a more serious, ambitious, and advanced tank simulation in the future? |

I took note of the release, but the demo was a sobering experience, and early feedback at Steam was not stellar either. It gets released way too early. Somebody, so I think, mistakes "Early Access" with "unlimited developement of a still early Alpha". I hate such Early Access projects if they do not go by a strict timetable not lasting longer than 1 year until relesase of the finished full-feature product.
My exmaple for a top class Early Access process is Assetto Corsa Competizione: less than one year, 6-phases timetable, all timestamps were met. My worst example is Wreckfest. Admitted, in the end something good was the result, but it took them 6 years or so and the journey was a terrible desaster. Early Access label gets abused way too often and too easily theses days. I am extremely hesitent to support it anymore, therefore. After the demo I am certain that this tank sim/game will take way longer than one year. I will check it again once it is out in full, if I am still interested then. But i do not hold my breath til then.
